We promised to take the little ones tomorrow ( away this Easter but I don't want to pay £600 for two nights at the Bedruthen Steps (Cornwall).

Can anyone suggest a REALLY nice child friendly hotel/cottage that has indoor things for kids, especially pool (as weather is due to be rubbish).

Happy with Devon, Wales or Cornwall.

Sands Resort www.sandsresort.co.uk is a sister hotel to Bedruthen Steps (and is located a couple of bays along from Bedruthen). Not quite as posh or expensive but still really nice, very child friendly, with indoor pool, kids' entertainment, etc. I don't know what their Easter tariff is but it might be worth a look.

www.stmoritzvillas.co.uk This place has a lovely pool and is brand new. It has a fab spa - part of the Babington House Cowshed chain.Lovely restaurant too. There is some availability for the Spring break but not sure about the next two weeks.About £600 for a week.Fab location.

Thanks I have now phoned both and they have availability. S Moritz is cheaper. Have you been there? Is Sands a nightmare when it's busy??

Seinot Manor is nice and near me

Very near Llanberis.Lots of good things for kids to do around here.

twotimestrouble · 19/03/2008 22:10

Seinot looks beautiful. Maybe a bit too beautiful to let our two boys run riot LOL.

Have you stayed there?

I go there a fair bit with my kids for Sunday lunch and swimming. it is big with huge grounds and very relaxed-big library type places full of squishy sofas and board games. Have never felt worried about taking kids there.

Really, there is stacks to do around this area.

We loved Sands when we went at half term. It wasn't full, so I don't have experience of it when it's really busy. They were very well organised though so I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem.

twotimestrouble · 20/03/2008 08:14

frazzled. Sands tell me they have 59 kids staying (plus adults). Do you think that sounds too many from your experience? I don't want to go if it full to capacity!

It's hard to say. They do have really good kids clubs which are very popular so if your children are into that sort of thing then they'd probably love it. I don't think there is a capacity probpem with the older ones but there are limits for the younger clubs so you might want to call and check that, if it affects you. The dining room is huge so that won't be a problem. The swimming pool isn't huge so that could be an issue but then not everyone will be in it at once! There are a couple of lounges and plenty of communal space inside and playgrounds, etc out.

Personally I think it would be fine. It wouldn't put me off. Tbh I don't think you'll find any decent hotel that isn't busy at Easter.

We spoke to quite a few families while we were there and at least 1/2 of them had been several times before - one had been going for 10 years and another had been there as a child and was now taking her kids. We thought that was an excellent recommendation.

Thanks for all your help. In the end Sands and Bedruthan Steps were booked but we came across a brill place. St Moritz Hotel (5 star, brand new art deco place) with pool, spa and near beach. The fantastic thing is they have a few self catering apts right next to them and you can use all facilities.

The apt cost £250 for three nigths over Easter - the cost of one night at 3* Sands. The hotel was lovely, staff fantastic and food great.

So if anyone wants a trip to Cornwall (Polzeath)......

I've stayed at the St Moritz Villas many, many times. Polzeath is my favourite surfing beach and Ann's Cottage is my favourite surfing shop!

Rian · 26/03/2008 21:12

Thanks for that tip ttt. Have just booked a St Moritz villa for the Easter break - looks lovely!

twotimestrouble · 27/03/2008 09:52

Tip - if you want to book a Spa treatment www.stmoritzhotel.co.uk/cowshed.htm do so in advance as they get REALLY busy.

Are you going self catering?
