Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in central London? Or should I just stick to Premier Inn?

Can you be specific? What amenities do you need (parking? pool?)? Which area of central London do you need? What is the budget/duration?

Frenchdressing · 21/01/2024 13:02

Near to main sites I guess? The museums and Tate etc. Pool not an issue. 2 nights with teens. Not sure on budget as no idea how much a decent room costs.

thanks.

If I go to London I generally budget about £200 per night for a decent hotel in a decent location. Being right next to the attractions isn’t a must in London though, you just need to be near a tube station

We like Clermont Charing Cross. It’s not cheap but if you sign up on their site you get some discounted rates and I normally get some cashback through top cashback as well.

treath · 21/01/2024 13:44

What do you want from a hotel?

I always stay premier inn, they are basic but that all I need.

reflecting2023 · 21/01/2024 13:45

Park Plaza county Hall is close to the South Bank and Waterloo tube station.

BIWI · 21/01/2024 14:08

Which main sites? Which Tate? How many rooms do you need? And what do you mean by a 'decent hotel'? What do you want that a Premier Inn wouldn't deliver? How much do you really want/not want to spend?

You're being frustratingly vague!

Tinselunderthetv · 21/01/2024 14:09

I like the park plaza county hall, if splashing out The Dilly is fab

HappyHamsters · 21/01/2024 14:11

What museums, which Tate, what station will you arrive at, what the total budget, it will be £200 a room.

Why not check out Tripadvisor?

Premier inn in certain locations, on certain dates, can easily be £200 per room. I thi k you need to put your dates into a booking search engine, OP, and that will give you an idea of what is within budget.
Also, look at aparthotels as an alternative.

HamHand · 21/01/2024 14:25

The Kensington is a lovely hotel, but expensive. Not so bad out of season, but still expensive. Tbh if it’s for sight seeing and you’ll spend most of the time out and about there’s no beating a premier inn.

Ilovemyshed · 21/01/2024 14:34

Try the Montcalm Royal London near Moorgate or one of the Apex Hotels, Citadines, Club Quarters or Z hotels.

Frenchdressing · 21/01/2024 14:49

I’m being vague because I am a bit vague about what we want to do.

I’ll have a look at the suggestions. Thank you.

Sometimes it's easier just to book a hotel near the station you arrive at and use it as a base, the british museum is far away from the tate galleries so maybe make a list of what you'd like to visit then plan the best hotel and journey. pi and travelodge premium rooms, hiltons are all fine but few hotels are cheap in central London. Sunday night is the cheapest.

MaltedMilk88 · 21/01/2024 15:44

We like the Montague if splashing out!

The Rembrandt is minutes away from South Kensington tube. Opposite the V&A and so close to the Natural History Museum and Science Museum too.
Within walking distance of Harrods, Harvey Nicks and the King's Road.
It's a 4 star hotel, has lovely helpful staff, is clean though getting a little tired around the edges but is in a super location.
I would return.

TheSmallAssassin · 12/02/2024 23:15

We stayed at the Strand Palace recently, it was a fab location for where we wanted to visit. We got it as a discount "mystery hotel" on lastminute.com, it's pretty easy to work out what they are...

The Premier Inn in County Hall is a great location too, we've been there several times and always have a good stay.

KnickerlessParsons · 12/02/2024 23:42

The Cumberland is ok - lots of pop paraphernalia in the reception area

Nannyamc · 12/02/2024 23:46

Usually go for the cavendish jermyn st
.you can walk everywhere no tubes or buses need.
A little pricey but great location
