Best part of Liverpool to stay

Can anyone recommend a good part of Liverpool for us to stay.

We probably won't use public transport while away, but happy to walk 20 mins or so to anywhere. Guess we'd want to see Beatles statue, where Cavern Club is, the docklands, the catherdral, possibly Beatles Story or museum.

However, would like somewhere with a few walk restaurants/pubs within 5 mins walk. There seems to be a view areas Ropewalks, Liverpool One, Docklands, Georgian or near Lime Street.

Also, any hotel recommendations. Just two adults looking for breakfast, ideally not on a very busy main road.

There are several Premier Inns in the city centre. We stayed at the Lime Street one last year, and were very happy with it. Other good ones are the PIs in Liverpool One and Albert Dock. Both are easy walking distance to the city centre.

We stayed recently at the hotel next to Lime Street station, Radisson Red. It was so convenient if you are getting there by train and when we went to see a show at the theatre next door it was such a luxury to walk 2 minutes back to our hotel. We walked everywhere, no problem, saw all the sights.

Everything you want to see is in the city centre so... the city centre.

Highly recommend the Baltic Hotel. Right in Baltic triangle. Loads of fab bars and restaurants nearby and a 20 min walk to many of the places you have mentioned Ed. Alternatively, more centrally, I loved Aloft.

Central Liverpool is really easy to navigate on foot so anywhere in those areas you mention would be fine.
The docks you're less likely to get road noise I guess.
Depends how much you want to spend as well! Budget? Mid-range? More luxury?

Staycity Aparthotels Liverpool great location, not sure what breakfast I'd like as we used the kitchen.
Everything on the doorstep.

Carsarelife · 19/01/2024 15:38

I stayed in Staycity in November was a nice room and reasonably priced. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and of high quality. Obviously if you don't want your eat in the hotel you are close to a million options. If you stay in this hotel the Beatles statue is 3 minutes walk and to get a bus for the magical mystery tour and cavern included was 10 min walk

Ok so certain hotels are being used to house asylum seekers, so if this would affect your decision do your research well.

The docs have hotels which are nice, and there's lots of things in the immediate vicinity

If you like a spa hotel the titanic is nice.

The apart hotels are often used by groups of hen and stag parties and I would avoid like the plague.

Avoid the street merchants flower sellers as they work in conjunction with pick pockets

If budget allows, stay in The Hope Street Hotel, on Hope Street in between the two Cathedrals.
Thank me later.

The Leonardo (was Jury's Inn) is a good central location and has comfortable rooms, decent breakfast and everywhere is walkable. There's also a Premier Inn at the Albert Dock which is comfortable and a good location. The other end of the riverfront is Crowne Plaza which is good too.

We usually stay at the Malmaison , there’s parking next door and it’s quite central on the docks. Also like the Hilton at Liverpool One. As you long as you stay in a city centre hotel you can pretty much walk everywhere. We love Liverpool

We stayed in The Cove which is an Apart hotel. Lovely place right in the centre near John Lewis with its own parking. Will be staying there again as DS is at uni there.

No sign of any stag or hen parties.

I booked a coach trip last year with accommodation at The Adelphi. And then I read the reviews...

But it was absolutely great! Food, accommodation, right in the centre. Buses on the doorstep. Absolutely brilliant!

I asked for ideas of where to visit on here and had so many suggestions. In fact, it was so great, and I didn't get to see half of everything that I'm booked again for another coach trip in May, staying at The Adelphi again. So central and it really was great!

Premier Inn at the Albert Dock is fab. My partner is from Liverpool and we always stay here when visiting. Ask for a dock view 😃

Talluawiththehoola · 19/01/2024 18:53

Hi
I live in Liverpool and agree with all the previous suggestions.
liverpool is quite a small compact city and easy to walk to all the site seeing places.
However, although the Hope St hotel is lovely it is very much on the edge of things, handy for the cathedrals though.
To get to Mathew St or the waterfront then it’s about a half hour walk down hill, just something to bear in mind.
I would suggest one of the hotels more in the city centre area..
Hope you have a good time.

Just been to Liverpool for work anywhere by the dock. There is plenty to choose from. Old jury inn. Holiday inn. Premier inn etc lovely area to be and everything is pretty central.

Runnerinthenight · 19/01/2024 19:05

Stayed in the Indigo for a weekend a few years back - it was lovely.

Funf · 20/01/2024 11:18

Just check the Location as some hotels are well out of the city.
Its a great destination loads to see and do, Bold Street is great for food, its the one with the Bombed out church at the top end, some ideas here

Not Lime St!
Everywhere is easy to get to, but would recommend the Georgian Quarter - either The Hope Street Hotel or there is a new one called the Philharmonic Hotel that looks interesting. It's just a lovely area to be, and only a short walk down the hill into the city centre. Coming back, you'll easily get a cab or bus, if you don't want to walk.
