Somewhere with amazing scenery?

me and dh went to Scotland last year and really loved it. We walked every day and enjoyed the scenery and peace. We were very rural and saw barely anyone. Perfect! It really did us good. But it was a long drive! The dog wasn’t impressed!
can anyone please recommend anywhere ‘like Scotland’ but not so far? I want some wow scenery to walk, not many shops really or too touristy or towny. I just love views. Peaks? Lakes? Yorkshire? I don’t mind a beach, not bothered either way, but I like hills and views mostly! Interested in your recommendations please…
plan B would be Scotland again.
thank you

based In the midlands so looking anywhere really but somewhere not so long in the car as Scotland would be the target, but as beautiful as Scotland.

For another Scottish trip another time try Laide on the west coast. Probably my favourite place. I live in Scotland and still nearly 5 hours for us to get there but looking over to Achiltibuie and the summer isles in June when it's light so late is amazing

Yorkshire Dales and across into Cumbria and the Howgill Fells. There'll be quite a few walkers around Ingleborough, Whernside, and near Malham, but other hills around seem very quiet. The Howgills in particular (did a bike ride and saw zero people for 2-3 hours). The Lakes seemed busier but maybe there are some more peaceful areas. Stayed in the Black Bull in Sedbergh last Spring - great food. Wish we'd eaten there every night.

Also worth a weekend in the Shropshire Hills - off most people's radar but very scenic (obviously particularly in the summer). Another vote for Northumberland (again in the summer) - helps if you like castles / castle ruins. Do a walk up The Cheviot on a clear day and you get a very broad panoramic view as well as a workout. Went to South Pembrokeshire maybe 10 years ago; fantastic beaches with about 5 people on them. I think it was July / August.

I have the same dilemma OP, and after quite a bit trial and error have concluded that the Scottish Highlands is always worth the long drive (though we're in the NW so a little further up than you are). We drive through Glencoe on the way to the place where we always stay, and there's nowhere to beat that area for sheer grandeur and desolation (in a good way!).

I've done lots of holidays in the Peaks and the Lakes, and I am always put off by the traffic and the crowds. I like total isolation.

Nowhere is as beautiful as Scotland but Northumberland and parts of the Lake District and Peak District aren't far off.

If you didn't go to Glen Affric when you were in Scotland then just go back there. It is the most beautiful place I have been in my life.
