AirBnB dispute advice

Hi, looking for some advice on how to handle a situation that’s arisen following a recent stay I had in an Air BnB please. After we checked out, the owner contacted us with photo evidence of the leg of a tub chair broken off. They are requesting we pay the full cost of a replacement (£150) plus the delivery cost (£6.95). My main query is - I don’t know if we are responsible. It certainly wasn't in that state when we left BUT we did move the chair in question and I guess it’s possible we have caused some damage without realising, and when the owner moved the chair back, it fully broke. Do I just suck it up and pay? I also don’t know if it’s reasonable to expect me to pay delivery? But then what’s another £7 when you’re already down £150 😫

No experience of this however I have read before the only way for Airbnb owners to claim off the Airbnb insurance is to show they've asked the guest to pay for it first, then when you say no they're allowed to claim.

Thanks @mummyh2016. I think on balance we probably did cause the damage although we didn’t realise at the time. I’m just gonna pay it.

I think there is an Airbnb forum which might get more specific answers and ideas for you. I can't find the link, but would be worth finding it before paying, incase there are other things to consider.

Hmm. You must know you caused the damage to be willing to pay it! If I had only moved a chair, it wouldn't be damaged, and I wouldn't agree to pay for any damage.

How would a chair leg break from simply moving it?! Are you sure you're responsible?
