Glasgow central hotel recommendations

Hi, my mum and I are off to Glasgow to visit some relatives in a few weeks.
Arriving at Central Station. We want to stay at a hotel near lots of restaurants and one that's not off the beaten path.
No more than a 5/10 min walk from the station would be good but close to places to eat/shops. Mum has slight mobility issues
Budget about £110-20 per night.
The Clayton caught my eye but it doesn't look very central. Likewise the Leonardo. Any suggestions would be great.

Have you looked at the Voco hotel which is right at central station? Not sure if the price is right at this time of year, but it's really convenient and central.

Grasshoppers. Right above the station and very good.

Yes the Grand Central. Couldn't be more convenient for you.

Thank you. Yes, loved the Voco but no twin bed rooms available for our dates unfortunately. Will look at Marriot and Grasshoppers.
Do you know where most of the eateries are concentrated? Is it around George Square or Buchannan Street?
Getting a decent deal with Radisson Blu? Is that close enough to restaurants etc? A short walk is fine. Thanks again.

The Village is fine

I wouldn't choose the village as you would need to get a taxi there from the city centre, it's not walking distance.

I would recommend grand central hotel, or radisson blu, also there is a new one called the address.
Also there is the yotel, which has a place called vega on the top floor and is brilliant for brunches (needs to be booked in advance)

They're all walking distance of 5 minutes from George square and surrounding streets.

Places like the Ivy or miller and carter would need to be booked in advance, however there's many that you can walk into.

I live near Glasgow and enjoy an overnight with friends at least once a year.

We always stay at the Clayton - love it! It’s a 5 minute walk from Glasgow Central station.

hayleybeach · 06/01/2024 16:26

Thanks a bunch everyone.
It's been more difficult to get a twin room so I've settled on the Radisson - nice reviews and seems close enough to everything. You've all been really helpful!

The radisson is lovely.
This was my room in October when I stayed there

Would also advocate Grasshoppers. I’m a Weegie and stayed there myself when back visiting. It’s very close to Central Station and has lifts. As for eateries, you’re right in the thick of it. Buchanan Street and Princes Square are lovely shopping streets. Sauchiehall Street is sadly run down these days. Best to look on TripAdvisor and get most recent reviews for restaurants. Merchant City is also nice.
