Hotel near St Pancras

Hello!
I need to catch the early Eurostar so planning to stay over night in London, as close to St Pancras as possible as will have dc with me and their luggage (we live 4 hours away so need to travel down the day before).

Ive looked at Travelodge / Premier Inns which are all around the £200 mark. I looked at some other hotels but not too sure about them.

Does anyone have any recommendations for family friendly hotels, which won't break the bank and near St Pancras so I don't miss the train!

Thankyou in advance!

We stay in the premier inn King’s Cross which is just down a side street. Family friendly and it has an attached restaurant, which is also where breakfast is served.

Christmasapple · 02/01/2024 21:26

The premier inn there is fine. We used it this summer.

The Crowne Plaza or Kings Cross Inn might be a bit cheaper than the premier inn. If you just want somewhere very cheap then you've got the Avonmore, Apollo or Belgrove, all very budget hotels but fine for one night.

Thankyou all,
@Avacardo2023 cheap is good as currently prices are over £200 for the date we need to book for. We're catching an early Eurostar so won't be time for breakfast in hotel and im
loath to spend £200 on a short one night stay!

The YHA opposite is good.

There's an IBIS near Euston, might be worth checking.

We stayed at the Pullman, managed to get a good deal for our stay. It was perfectly fine, comfortable room etc. The bar downstairs was lively in the evening, but we couldn't hear it from our floor.

The Premier inn is reliable - you at least know what you are getting.

I have stayed in a few other hotels there which were awful rabbit hutches with dirt and worn out rooms - and cost the same as the Premier Inn and supposedly 3*...

I am down about 4 times a year and just always stay in that Premier Inn now.

If you can get a deal, the Pullman is lovely. But it was expensive when we stayed there, even with a deal.

That’s been closed for years IIRC, HS2 works.

Tinytigertail · 04/01/2024 17:48

There are some hostels on Gray's Inn Road that are clean and modern and might be worth a look for one night.

Desolatewardrobe · 04/01/2024 17:48

Pullman is always going to be more than a Premier Inn, surely?

There’s a Mercure Bloomsbury you might want to try for prices.

TheChosenTwo · 04/01/2024 17:50

There’s a premier inn hub nearby that I’ve used a few times; they’re tiny but practical for an early Eurostar.

Not with DC and luggage?

HappyHamsters · 04/01/2024 17:59

What date do you need the hotel for

HappyHamsters · 04/01/2024 18:05

The Islington pi might be cheaper, it's a short bus or tube ride to St Pancras

Desolatewardrobe · 04/01/2024 18:10

Central Premier Inns have all got pretty expensive now. I’d suggest the Brixton one (ten minutes away on the Victoria line, tubes running at that time) but I know what it’s like getting early trains with kids and wanting to keep things simple and less prone to disaster!

Not with DC and luggage?

Not what with dc and luggage?
Do you mean you couldn’t stay with dc and luggage? Or that I haven’t stayed with dc and luggage?
Sorry, not understanding 😂
I have stayed there for a night sharing a room and there’s enough space for 2 and luggage. I’ve also stayed there in my own room. It’s not spacious enough to spend more than a night there and relax but it’s perfectly adequate and does the job as somewhere to sleep near the Eurostar.
I guess there may be an issue if you have multiple dc and no other adults though, I haven’t looked into rooms for more than 2 people.

Jugglingitallmum · 04/01/2024 19:14

The Standard opposite is great!

premiur · 06/01/2024 18:03

Not what with dc and luggage?

Not a PI hub.

Do you mean you couldn’t stay with dc and luggage?

No I mean for OP not to consider it. The hub rooms are not set up for family accommodation. If you do a PI search for 2 adults it will offer hub rooms: if you search 1 adult and 1 DC it won't.

Or that I haven’t stayed with dc and luggage?

Why on earth would I be commenting on what you have done?

Sorry, not understanding 😂

Yeah, that's fully your problem. When I said not with DC and luggage it was utterly obvious I wasn't talking about you but saying to OP not to consider it.
