A few hours in London

I have booked tickets for the Bluey live show in London for the week after Christmas for dds 6 and 2, DH and I. We will be getting the train into Marylebone to arrive around 10.40 and the show is at 4.30. Can anyone recommend something to do in between? DDs have never been to London before and DH and I are infrequent visitors. We have considered Hyde Park Winter Wonderland (bloody freezing when I went before), the Natural History Museum, London Eye (small fortune) or River Cruise from South Bank. Any thoughts? I also assume we’ll need to book a restaurant for an early dinner after the show? Thanks for any tips!

Pick up a bus tour from Baker Street? You can see the sites and hop off/on if you want to see anything for longer.

Where is the show?

Looks like it's at the South Bank Centre?

Don't bite off too much I would say, not when you factor in lunch and travel. They're only little, it will be a tiring day.

I would take a double decker bus to Covent Garden have a look round there and something to eat, then walk down to the river and have a pootle along the Southbank as far as Tate Modern / St Paul's. The Monument to the Great Fire is a fun thing to climb and not to expensive or long-winded. I bet the 6yo will soon be studying the Great Fire at school.

If it's freezing cold take them into the Tate and they can have hours of fun running up and down the big slope to the turbine hall!

Just to add, the 139 bus looks like it goes pretty direct between Marylebone & CG, via Regent St, Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square so some good sights there.

Enjoy the decorations in the market and then walk down through Somerset House so you can look at the ice rink which is very pretty.

Not WinterWonderland - you won't be there long enough to do it justice. From Marylebone I would spend your day in nearby Regents Park - if you walk around the outskirts you can see the animals in London Zoo from the other side. Have a snack to tide you over in the cafe, then a pizza or something on Baker Street. Then Bakerloo Line (underground) to Waterloo. You can spend a while looking at everything going on on the South Bank and admire the river before the show if you have a time.

Those are really helpful ideas, thank you so much! Sorry I forgot to say that it was at the South Bank Centre. My main worry was booking something like NHM or Winter Wonderland and spending most of the time worrying about what time we need to set off to navigate the tube! It looks much easier to stay around Regents Park or Covent Garden. Love the idea of a double decker bus too!
