Weekend in Hull with kids

We’re planning to go to Hull for a fri/sat. We have been to the Deep on the way through so will go there again. What else can we do with a 4 and 7 yrs old? The museums all seems really close. Are they all worth visiting? They do love a hood museum. Any other advice is welcome. Thanks.

Why Hull?

grafittiartist · 18/11/2023 07:11

Why not Hull?!!

Anyway- the museums are fab and free. Definitely worth visits. The art gallery is great.

A walk about the Marina and Humber street is nice. Burts pizza is great.

East park is lovely if it's nice weather. There's an animal enclosure.

Proper joke shop in Paragon arcade.

The Minster is worth a visit and the new cafe is super.

Dinostar- legendary dinosaur museum!

NameChange1019 · 18/11/2023 07:19

Indoor market for good and a walk round the minster. See if thx kids can find the wooden mice carved into the pews.

Fish trail might be good too

NameChange1019 · 18/11/2023 07:19

For food!!

Why Hull?

Tickets to the deep last a year and kids loved it! They’re desperate to go back.

Day trip to the coast, Scarborough etc.

Morecladding · 18/11/2023 07:26

Lost City Adventure Golf is supposed to be good.

Kittylala · 18/11/2023 07:47

Whaling museum

Radiatorlife · 18/11/2023 07:51

Nice walk across the Humber Bridge.

The maritime museum is also great and worth a visit. I think Hull Fair might have ended now, but if not - thats a good afternoon out.

visit to spurn point lighthouse is also a nice trip

IsletsOfLangerhans · 18/11/2023 07:53

The Streetlife and East Riding museums are both good for kids. The maritime museum is closed for a big refurbishment at the moment though. If you are thinking of an imminent trip, there is a Victorian Christmas market in the old town on the 25/26th November. As people have said above, Trinity market is great for food, as are various spots on Humber street.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 18/11/2023 08:06

If you have a car, I love a trip down Spurn Point. Yorkshire Wildlife Trust do brilliant 4 x 4 trips down to the lighthouse, but you need to book ahead.

YY to Dinostar!

There's a nice park next to the windmill at Hessle Foreshore.

grafittiartist · 18/11/2023 14:13

Oh yes- on a good day the unimog at spurn is ace!
Fish trail?

I told you the wrong arcade for the joke shop- it's Hepworths.
But Paragon arcade is pretty too.

pinkizzy · 18/11/2023 21:51

We love it at East Park in Hull, great play area, little animal zoo bit and good smooth road/ path for scooters/ bikes! You'd drive there from the Deep.

AreYouShittingMe · 18/11/2023 22:16

As PP have said- Burt's Pizza is just across the river Hull from The Deep. It's then a short walk to Humber Street where you will find Dinostar.
You could then continue up Humber Street to the Marina.
The Streetlife museum and East Riding museum are both in the museum quarter off High Street, also in walking distance from The Deep.
Ferens Art gallery is also free, and there's a lovely cafe in there.
You'll have to visit again when the Maritime Museum has reopened 😉

Sybila · 18/11/2023 22:22

For lunch, perch on the stools in the arcade and go to the hispanist, it’s seriously good

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 18/11/2023 22:25

The joke shop is still there? What about Bob Carvers?

Scottishlanza · 18/11/2023 22:27

A walk round the Humber Bridge Country Park is great

garlictwist · 18/11/2023 22:27

The museums are really good and free. We really like the transport museum. And they are in the old town which has some nice streets to wander around.

thenightsky · 18/11/2023 22:38

Do you have time to come south over the Bridge and visit the seal sanctuary at Donna Nook? They are all currently ashore, giving birth to lovely fluffy white pups, but will be gone in a week or two.

Notjustfish · 21/11/2023 09:31

Thanks everyone. All really good tips.
