Somewhere DD can do a course, DH could have an occasional lesson & I can sail if I want to

Any ideas where?

Probably camping

I've just got a thing in a magazine about PGL activity hols. Looks interesting. Worth a google?

WanderingTrooley · 09/03/2008 17:40

Norfolk.

LIZS · 09/03/2008 17:41

I'm sure there are places on the Solent/Chichester harbour. Try via the RYA site

Surfermum · 09/03/2008 17:57

I think someone would probably accommodate that down here in sunny Poole.

Surfermum · 09/03/2008 18:03

Poole Sailing

Plenty of campsites not far away.

Surfermum · 09/03/2008 18:24

Moonfleet

KatyMac · 09/03/2008 18:27

Thanks Surfermum - they are all Yacht places - I guess I was thinking more Dinghies

Definatly not Nofolk (actually that is very mean of me I had my best sailing holidays ever in Norfolk)

Ok, then Rockley Watersports! Grin

roisin · 09/03/2008 19:02

Lake District is lovely, and there are certainly sailing schools/clubs on Coniston, Windermere and Ullswater. I expect on Derwentwater too - though I don't know that area.

Your dd has done a lot of sailing hasn't she? What level RYA course would she want?

My boys are doing a couple of days at Lakes Leisure at Easter. But we've not been to them before, so I can't recommend.

nannynick · 09/03/2008 19:12

How about Scotland? Does it have to be Dinghies... would Kayaking Lessons do? They have Topaz as well, if you want to learn to sail.
Not sure there is a campsite near, but they have SelfCatering Log Cabins.
Found a campsite... about 5 miles away: Dalraddy Holiday Park

No Nick, Kayaking won't do, Sorry

Roisin That looks wonderful - she hasn't got level 2 yet - but she is only 2 things off getting it

Sorry Surfermum- I've looked at Rockely before - but to get to France we would have to drive or fly - I looked the train but it was too complicated

Loch Insh also do RYA sailing courses. So I would expect your DD could join a level 2 course, or have private tuition to complete the things she needs to do.

Island Cruising club in Salcombe is where I learned to sail many years ago. www.icc-salcombe.co.uk/ island cruising club]]. You stay on a big boat and sail off it every day. They do kids or adults or family courses.

KatyMac · 09/03/2008 20:01

She should finish her level 2 at Easter

Rockley run courses in Poole as well as France.

KatyMac · 09/03/2008 20:41

My Mum has suggested that we have their boat on the broads for a week

It's a sailing barge (from Holland) DH & I couldn't sail it - but we could motor & tow DD's dinghy

It would be a very relaxing holiday would it be really sad to go on holiday less than 5 miles from home

OP posts:
KatyMac · 09/03/2008 22:06

You all think it's a bad idea huh?

OP posts:
roisin · 10/03/2008 17:22

I think that's a great idea. If she's got her own dinghy and RYA Level 2, I would have thought lots of practice time is exactly what you want.

At Easter we are spending a week in a cottage on the side of a lake, with private jetty, and my brother's boat/yacht-thingie. The fact that this is all only about 20 miles from home is not an issue!

cremolafoam · 10/03/2008 17:27

here?

KatyMac · 10/03/2008 18:12

So it's not sad then?

I broached (sp?) the subject with DH & he really fancies it

A week with the Radio, nice food & no stress
