We would like to go away for my birthday which is the 23rd April?
We'd like to go for about 3 days. Somewhere child friendly as we have a ds who'll be 13 months old.

We both really like history and museums so somewhere rich in history and culture would really suit us.

We cant drive and will need to depend on trains to get us there. We live in North Yorkshire so we'll be travelling from York.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

history, culture and 13 m.o. friendly. Difficult.

I was going to suggest York!

Chester? Oxford? Cambridge? London?

We'd love to go to London. We've been once before for only 1 day and we loved it.

My mum has said she may have ds.

Oxford sounds nice too. Thanks for the ideas Janeite.

that's my birthday too . Good old St George.

Yes, come to London. It fits your bill perfectly and London is gorgeous in the Spring I think. It'll be quite busy though most schools should be back by then so you won't be in school holidays (think they mostly go back on the 21st April).

Edinburgh?

kayzisbroody · 09/03/2008 17:46

I thought about Edinburgh as well.

I think we are decided on London.

what is the budget like/

Travelodge hotels or luxury?

kayzisbroody · 09/03/2008 18:02

Travelodge really.

We have found a nice hotel at Wembley.
We want it to be fairly cheap so we'll have more money to spend on sight seeing and stuff like that.

there's a travelodge at Cov Gdn that's really central and not very expensive (esp if you book in advance)

kayzisbroody · 09/03/2008 18:14

Thanks I'll have a look at that.

Covent Garden more central too - I took dd1 to London for a few days last summer and we stayed in the Kings Cross Travelodge, which was fine and easy to get to on the tube - the Covent Garden one would probably be even better though.

We had been looking at hotels around Convent Garden as its central and its got quite a few nice places to eat.
