We are staying in Wimbledon.

Going up the Shard one day, 10yo's choice.

Don't mind travelling around on tube or bus.

Thanks

We like the museums. Don't spend hours in any of them but good for a wander and picnic especially in bad weather. In good weather we walk. Parks, down Whitehall, up the Mall etc to see the sights. We used to live in London though so I know lots of good walks which I prefer to the tube. We went to see tower bridge last October which my 10yo asked for then wandered through the city to see the famous buildings from the ground. We also spent last summer hitting all of the Royal parks which was great, weather and interest dependent though!

We also have the millennium dome and skyline on the long list! Mine don't like shopping but there's loads of options if you do

Canary Wharf ice rink - get the DLR there and sit at the front - v futuristic top view
Round that way is also climbing the Millennium dome
And Greenwich Maritime museum
cutty sark

If you are going to the shard and they have any aspirations to medicine or nursing then the old london operating theatre is good (they might be a bit young) - and if you are there Friday or Sat then borough market great to eat in

around London Bridge tower bridge HMS Belfast and the london dungeon (and tower bridge, obvs)
Boat along the Thames (there are speeds ones)
Tower of London - probably only if they are really into horrible history (if they are there are hh boat tours)

China town for lunch or dinner - all twwens and young teens seem to love it

Transport museum - I think of that more for younger kids but if they are into that. Churchill war rooms - maybe they are a bit young but it’s ace if they like WW2 stuff

If they are at the shopping stage then Camden

Jules Verne War of the world experience

Open top bus tour

Science and natural history museums

Harry Potter tour, of course

300 steps up monument if they like heights and you need to tire them out

Fudgeandcaramel · 24/10/2023 21:42

Depending on interests:
Wonderlab at the science museum
Churchill war rooms
Horrible histories boat tour

I like the idea of walking and looking. He loves buildings. I probably won't walk from Wimbledon though! Grin

A few more;
Imperial War museum
Museum of Childhood Bethnal Green
Museum of London ( great walk from London Bridge right through the City)
London Transport museum Covent Garden
Sky Garden

From Wimbledon I would get the overground to Waterloo then cross the Bridge to the HOP if he likes buildings, you can then walk along to London Bridge via the Tate Modern or hop on the Thames Clipper to Greenwich.

Get on a number 9 or 11 bus from Trafalgar Square to see the sights.

Uber boat from Tower Bridge to Westminster.

Lego flagship shop in Leicester Square.

Chinatown for dim sum/noodles, the decorations/lions/dragons, the cake shop (amusingly Chinese service), the gift shops and the supermarkets.
