Going to look at the uni, staying Friday night in premier inn central with dd 17. Have looked at other threads and think a wander down the royal mile, maybe go up a hill and do a secret tunnel tour- any advice about that/order appreciated! Also where to eat Friday? She’s a not very adventurous veggie and indecisive, I don’t want to spend hours looking at menus and having them vetoed! Thank you

dd is a 2nd year Edi student and she went to the Mash place for a friend's birthday and she says it was her favourite dinner out since she's in Edi, despite it not being type of food she would usually chose. There were several vegetarians in the group and there was plenty of choice for them.

Good to know- was thinking it looked quite meaty!
hope she’s having a great time, I’ve never even been to Scotland and Edinburgh looks amazing

I was looking at the Mash place the other day. I think I'll add it to our trip for a lunch, as DP would be in heaven with it!

Ive visited Edinburgh many times with my son from when he was 8, now 19.

this year we finally walked Arthur’s Seat. It took us just over 2 hours there and back, its very steep in some places and muddy. You need a decent pair of shoes. Worth it for the views but it would take a big chunk of your day.

I’d walk up Calton Hill for the views, the Old Calton Burial ground is also worth a look. Scott Monument is also a good view.

We enjoyed Mary Kings Close this year, also popped into St Giles’ as it was so close. Camera Obscura was also good fun
