Coastal with mystique?

As the title says really! I want to do a couple of days during feb half term with my 11 year old somewhere coastal ( eng, wales, Scotland), not your usual sea side resort though. Somewhere we can enjoy a couple of nice walks, hopefully a couple of nice cafes but mainly somewhere with a bit of mystique! I'm not well travelled at all!

Whitby!

How about Northumberland? Lots of beach walks. You could base yourselves in Alnwick which has the delightful barter books and alnwick castle for your mystique.

Isle of Arran - King Caves Beach.

Northumberland - Bamburgh Beach fab castle in the distance. Craster/Embleton-Dunstanburgh Castle in distance.

Tintagel? Lots of coastal places with castles in Wales. Depends how far you want to go.

South shore of Anglesey for sure. You'd have Beaumaris Castle and the pretty town, beautiful beach and dunes and Newborough Warren with the mystical Ynys Llanddwyn Island, Bryn Celli Ddu prehistoric burial chamber which you can climb inside, plus Penmon Point for a lighthouse, ruined priory, holy well etc. Menai Bridge is a nice town and the Menai Straits are beautiful for boat trips, sheltered walks etc, with views to the mountains of Eryri.
