Pram & pregnant in cycle rack Transpenine Express

Big up to Paul from Transpennine Express on the 14.35 service to Newcastle from Manchester for explaining that being of reduced mobility and sciatica while pregnant is not a good enough reason to sit in first class for one stop. That's great, but offering help on and off the train into the next carriages where we then had to stand in a cycle rack would have been appreciated, rather than leaving it to the cleaner to help lift the pram, who himself needed to get to the next train to clean on time.

So you brought a standard class ticket for the Xo'clock but with no seat reservation, because you thought being pregnant got you upgraded free to first class?

There wasn't room anywhere else on the train except in the doorway. I did ask nicely if it was possible to take a seat, as there wasn't room anywhere else. We weren't able to make a seat reservation as we had got off a previous train that was delayed and so missed our original connection but the ticket was still valid. Not expectant for first class - there genuinely aren't any other places for prams, scooters or chairs in the standard coaches on the new Transpennine trains. Merely asked and was shot down in flames, and laughed at. Not unlike a lot of mums, it's hard to have your voice heard.

Who laughed at you? And I'm sorry but 'having your voice heard' isn't something I'd usually attribute to not getting a unpaid seat in 1st class. How many was in your party?

Probably because the previous two trains were cancelled. TPE are are complete shitshow. It's no wonder they have lost their franchise.
