Looking for a UK break

Can somebody suggest a location for two adults in the uk for a mid week holiday please? We like nice places to eat and a general holiday feel (if that makes sense!!).

Preferably dog friendly.

We mainly travel abroad so have barely seen any of the uk! We are midlands based.

Thank you!

We’ve enjoyed breaks focussed on eating / food / nice places to eat in:

Deal, Kent
St Ives, Cornwall
Cartmel, Cumbria
Ribble Valley, Lancashire
Tynemouth, Tyneside
Cardigan Bay / Aberystwyth
Bruton, Somerset

I’d recommend them all - I think Deal, St Ives and Aberystwyth had the most ‘holiday’ feel for me, but that may because I associate holidays with the seaside, and we had nice weather in those places!

You could base yourself at Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast and then you’d have a dog friendly beach on your doorstep, plus Robin Hood’s Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay nearby, which are all gorgeous and dog friendly. It seems that almost all of the pubs and cafes in Whitby welcome dogs, and dogs are also allowed on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which runs across the Moors to Pickering.

Robin Hood’s Bay to Staithes

Thank you 😊

We are looking at the Lake District as this would be the best option for dogs. We've stayed at Ambleside before and quite liked that but found a lack of nice places to eat around that area and a lot of places closed!

Is that right or were we just blind? 😂

Ambleside has some good restaurants - a great Japanese restaurant Auradaze, and then also The Old Stamp House, Kysty and Lake Road Kitchen. The Samling is about half way between Ambleside and Windermere.

Opening times can be short though, especially out of high summer season. Places might only be open two or three nights a week. It’s also very much fine dining world a lot of the time so can be v expensive if lovely.

Bowness is close by too and has Henrock and the various eateries at the Gilpin.

North Wales generally has better weather than the lakes and defiantly more beaches.
Its very Dog friendly too.
The Llandudno / Conwy area is great base and places are open all year round

The Llyn Peninsular is lovely too but as the towns are much smaller may not all be open mid week in the winter.
Criccieth
Llanbedrog
This is an absolute Gem

Conwy - donthibernate.co.uk

Conwy Town is a world heritage site with an imposing thirteenth-century castle and walls. Conwy’s harbour, revolutionary Telford suspension bridge, …

The North Norfolk coast around Wells Next the Sea is very dog friendly. The massive sandy beach at Holkham is worth a visit.
It’s a good place for seafood. DH has at least 2 lobsters from the van at Wells whenever we go.
Morston Hall does a good value (for fine dining) Sunday lunch.
