Can I go which will make me feel like I'm on holiday (abroad)?

I have 2 free days in the middle of a work trip - I will meet my partner hopefully - and we want to enjoy these 2 days because we're not having a holiday together this year. I don't want to trail round shops and I want to plan so we're not just looking for restaurants etc.

We don't have masses of money so looking for reasonably priced activities/drinks/restaurants.

Thanks!

Hampstead? There's nice houses and interesting history plus the heath, including outside swimming, two cinemas ( if you include Belsize Park). There are nice shops and bars even if this isn't your focus. It's quick to get into town. Freud museum and galleries near.

The area around Little Venice.
The area has some lovely walks, boat rides and the Canal Cafe Theatre which sometimes has tickets for as little as £5.
For drinks and places to eat, there’s Waterside Cafe waterside-cafe.co.uk and Cafe Laville which are both lovely.

Hampstead Heath has a great view over London from Parliament Hill and also Kenilworth House (although I have never been in). The Heath is massive though so be warned. Highgate is a bus ride away with Highgate Cemetery to visit.

Primrose Hill (the park bit is part of Regent’s Park) also has a great view of London and the village some great restaurants and pubs, (Greenberry, Oka, Lemonia, Landsdowne to name just a few) - varying price points and plenty of choice to keep you well fed for a few days. There’s always the option of an indulgent picnic on the hill from Melrose & Morgan if the weather plays ball. From there you are within easy reach of Hampstead/Highgate in one direction (weirdly there are very few good places to eat in Hampstead) Marylebone High St the other side of Regent’s Park and Camden Market, Little Venice and Kings X are all easily walkable along the canal.

I always enjoy a trip to Greenwich (and I live in London). A walk round the park, enjoy the views of docklands, walk through the foot tunnel. Short train ride from London bridge (from memory)
There are lots of walks books that take you round an area (Mayfair, the city etc) and get you out and about and seeing something different.
There are several Mercato places about which are food court type things and can be good for a bit of people watching and something to eat.

So in one day you could start with brunch in Little Venice, get the canal boat up to Camden Market and have a mooch around there, then walk 10 minutes back up via the canal from Camden Lock to Primrose Hill, have a coffee and a look around the independent shops in the village then pick up some food and a bottle of something nice and take it to the park for an evening picnic (if weather is ok!), after which, wander back down to the Princess of Wales on Chalcot road or to the Landsdowne or Engineer for drinks later on….
