Can you book a holiday 4 years in advance?

I turn 50 in 4 years. I would like to have a big holiday somewhere like Thailand or Norway or Iceland or even around the world. I need to start saving now though. Are there holidays you can book that far in advance and pay monthly? If it's in one of my own saving accounts I'd be tempted to spend it. Any ideas please?

I doubt it because the operators will have no idea what their costs will be then so can’t commit to a price. Flights aren’t released till a little over a year ahead.

However, there are savings accounts which make it less easy to dip in - for example there are some that reward you with higher interest every month you don’t touch it. Or there are fixed rate bonds which last for a fixed term (1 or 2 yrs for eg) where you will pay a penalty if you take the money out early. These generally have a higher rate than easy access savings too.

Wouldn't have thought so.

Find a savings account you can add to each month but can be a ballache to withdraw - premium bonds or a high interest monthly saver.

A million things can happen in 4 years, chances are that some or all of your holiday plans/needs/requirements will be different then to now.

May be not as much as 4 years but a work colleague has just booked Florida for 2026 via a local travel agent.

I wouldn’t, lots can change in 4 years including the company going bust!
