Norfolk wet weather ideas...

Going to Norfolk on week holiday with 5 and 3 year old but weather not looking great... staying between bewilderwood and Great Yarmouth.
Any ideas of good things to do? Is bewilderwood still worth it in the wet? Was going to visit Norwich, beach trip, arcades, maybe boat?? Help please!

Things mine enjoyed included Norwich Castle, Sainsburys Centre (part of uni - museum/gallery - usually kids activities, good cafe), Wroxham Minature Worlds, Time and Tide Museum, Blicking Hall.

Time and Tide is a good call. There are some great museums in Yarmouth, Elizabethan House and the Toll house are worth a visit too.

There was a recent thread about Norwich, lots of good ideas here; https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/_chat/4851210-a-day-in-norwich?reply=127736462

What should I do with a full day to myself in Norwich? Somewhere to park? Somewhere nice to eat? What to see? Anyone with local info please post you...

Also the Hippodrome in Yarmouth. It's the only remaining Victorian purpose built circus building in the UK. The shows are great, especially 'dancing waters' at the end.

Gressenhall is a good day out.

ROAR is good as is Banham Zoo. Felbrigg is beautiful, nice short walk under the trees for wet days.

Sealife centre - there's one in Hunstanton and one in Great Yarmouth.

The hippodrome is lovely, great shows and a lovely building. There's an indoor mini golf on great yarmouth seafront that my kids love when it's raining. Bewilderwood is definitely still fun if its not a full on downpour!

Thankyou all!

Forecast is occasional shower not persistent rain. You could still hire a small boat (cruiser with rain cover) in Wroxham, go upriver to see the prettiest bits, Rising Sun pub in Coltishall.

Horsey Mill, and/or beaches near Waxham sands (can park at Cart Gap) always have some seals on them. Winterton dunes are very pretty.

Hippodrome is awesome, been a few times, booked again for next month. The acts are so brilliant and the water circus is just amazing. Also the minister at Yarmouth is really interesting to visit. There is a new indoor swimming pool on the seafront at Yarmouth. Norwich city centre is worth a visit. Get the P&R. So many fabulous beaches, 🤞the weather will be kind to you. Have a lovely holiday.

How about Sheringham for arcades and a crab sarnie / fish and chips and a poke around the little shops. My dc love it there. Ice cream a good shout and if the rain stops a walk down the prom.

Also hire a kayak at Wroxham if you get a couple of hours of good weather or maybe a broads boat trip covered in the rain.

We hired bikes near bewilderwood and had a lovely time but you need the good weather for that.

There's always afternoon tea!

I love Norfolk and last year went for a walk in cromer in the rain. Its not as much fun as when dry but I hope it won't rain all the time.

It's such a lovely place. Do you like sea food? I went to get crab from a fish monger outside cromer and had the equivalent of £60 seafood platter in a restaurant for a fraction of that price at home. There's also a number of lovely delis and farm shops so you can make a top notch meal rather than eat out sometimes.

Are you a NT member? We went to some good ones there when we had a very wet week, a good way to go somewhere nice without paying for it (at the time!)

Cuwins · 31/07/2023 09:30

We went earlier in the year with our 1 year old- weather was hit and miss. She enjoyed the sealife centre and Gressenhall but I would only do that if it was showery rather than full on pouring.
Not sure if it's too far for you but this place was a brilliant under the radar surprise:

Oh and I think wroxham miniature worlds would be a hit at that age- DD was a bit young for it

You're all so great! Thanks for so many ideas

There's also a pool at Sherringham if you fancy a swim.
