Going away over Christmas suggestions

We have decided now kids are mostly grown instead of big presents this year, we are going away! however need inspiration.
can anyone give any suggestions of where to go?
There will be 3 adults poss 4 and a 15 year old.
Are there any cosy cottage/ log cabins in a nice picturesque village/small town , that have a nice restaurant /pub that will be open for Christmas Day lunch ?
We are based in north east and happy to travel 3/4 hours in any direction… coast or country open to all any suggestions
Thanks

Oooh what a fab idea! You've got me thinking now. I'd love to know too.
Anyone?

You just have to decide where you want to go. We used to go away every year to a self catering cottage and you can book a restaurant/ pub for Xmas lunch. Alternatively, lots of hotels do packages with entertainment.

@Rocknrollstar deciding where to go is the problem, never really go away over Christmas save for visits to family… so pretty clueless as to where will be right … so looking for ideas and inspiration on location and accommodation etc.

Not sure on drive time but I always fancy spending Christmas at Blackberry wood campsite Sussex in their treehouse or fire engine if I wasn't doing family Christmas with relatives that wouldn't glamp.

Have a look at Forest Holidays https://www.forestholidays.co.uk/whats-on/christmas-breaks/

So, last night a short break Center Parcs got thrown in the ring by OH. The price is steep, but could be something different, but not sure if it’s suited to teens at this time of year?
would it be a waste are we better to stick to cottage idea?

If I could afford it, I'd choose Crieff Hydro at Christmas over Center Parcs.

@HairyToity ooh that’s a thought think it’s around 3 hours from us give or take, do you know what’s it like for teens? … saw some info on play sessions and like but not sure what’s on offer for teenagers…keen if paying a bomb to make sure there is stuff to do for us all! tho in honesty I’m happy to chill and with glass of wine a book and cracking fire but others need/ want more entertainment options.

Do Peebles Hydro still do Christmas or New Year.? If Crieff do then Peebles may be closer for you? I think they are in the same group
