What would you suggest please? Recently took them to Oxford and Brighton which they loved.

They're both just under 18 and 16. Girl and boy. I'm taking them on my own.

They like cultural things , unusual intriguing places , retro , street food...
Thank you

Bristol, with a day trip to Bath

thelionthewitchtheaudacityofTHISbitch · 11/07/2023 19:58

Now the Isle of Wight is just retro by its very nature! What type of accommodation would you be staying in?

stirling · 11/07/2023 22:28

Thank you both.
A bed and breakfast most likely

Honestly, there’s really not much to do in Bristol.

Honestly, there’s really not much to do in Bristol.

What?!!! You can’t be serious?

There is absolutely loads to do in Bristol and would be a fab place for your teens to visit. How can anyone look at Bristol and think there nothing to do?!

Bristol!

Have a look at:

Wake The Tiger
M Shed
Four Quarters Arcade Bar (U18s allowed in before 7)
Upfest
Where The Wall Street Art Tours St Nicholas’ Markets

A Bristolian voting for Bristol here.

Brilliant street food in bustling St Nicholas Market, a Banksy tour, Ghost tours, the Arnolfini art gallery, vibrant harbourside, independent shopping on Gloucester Road, a retro games arcade on Park Street and lots of vintage clothes shops, SUP in the docks, bowling, theatres, cinemas, the SS Great Britain, so much street art everywhere but especially in North Street Southville. A lido in nearby Portishead and a sea pool in Clevedon. Great train links to Bath. Honestly loads to do. Have a great time!

hastings4me · 11/07/2023 23:19

Hastings of course. The Old Town is lovely and quaint.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 11/07/2023 23:20

Not Isle of Wight unless you can sail.

It's a place for young families or old people. Beautiful beaches however and peaceful.

SleepingisanArt · 11/07/2023 23:20

Not the Isle of Wight!

I also vote for Bristol.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 12/07/2023 11:10

My DS enjoyed The Wave https://www.thewave.com/ and a tour of the Clifton Suspension Bridge

Waitingforsummer75 · 12/07/2023 11:12

DS is 18 and he's just off to the Isle of Wight, his choice. There's loads to do.

stirling · 12/07/2023 23:38

God I'm really sold on Bristol. I've been twice when young but never even heard of the above mentioned stuff .
Wow
Thank you
I think I'll save isle of Wight for a solo trip and Hastings next

Another vote for Bristol, it's a great city no matter what age you are. If they're still doing the tours of the University they're really fun as well. And if it's seaside retro you're after you can be in Weston super mare in about 30 minutes by train, fish and chips and mini wheel and all.

We had a lovely weekend in Bristol with teens and we also had a nice day trip to Battle / Hastings.

The 1066 battlefield is really interesting if you are into history. (It’s in Battle not Hastings, short drive away)The furnicular railway in Hastings itself is very quirky / retro. There is The Hastings Contemporary Art Gallery looks interesting . As are the Net Shops which make a great picture and has some jellied eel shops etc.

Wenfy · 13/07/2023 00:40

Depends on interests but I suggest Brighton. It’s only an hour’s drive from Hastings if you want a day trip but it has loads to do - a great mix of cultural and outdoorsy type stuff
