Norfolk coast holiday

Any recommendations please? I need to get away on my own for a couple of nights!

I’d love to spend a few days on the North Norfolk coast - ideally right on the coast, views of the sea - but where? Could be sc, hotel, hostel. Prefer quiet possibly isolated. Could be a few places walking distance along the coast. Any recommendations please?

I’d love to walk the coast path, swim, see beaches, maybe wildlife, seals etc. Where should I go?

thank you!

Do you camp? Burnham Deepdale is really nice, they also have rooms if you don’t want to camp. Coastal path is 2 mins from there. Wells-next the Sea is a good spot too. The beaches near there are stunning.

The Victoria at Holkham or Titchwell Manor near Brancaster

Oh these are all brilliant, thank you.

I’m not really a camper anymore (though tempted), but the “with rooms” works for me. And I love the more up-market options too. Just need to work out some dates and see if there’s availability …. :)

any more accommodation suggestions or must-do places to see / things to do welcome.

I’ll be using trains, buses, walking, so likely to stick to the coast path and bus route.

The bus service along the coastal road is really good and frequent. So you can hop on and off depending where you want to walk.

Horsey Gap is good for seals. I think you can’t go wrong wherever you pick, but the obvious seaside towns tend to be busy in the summer as you’d expect, Sheringham, Cromer, Mundsley etc.

You can take a boat trip from Morston to see the seals. They take you really close.

Blakeney is lovely, just along the coast from Moreston Quay- I second the recommendation for a boat trip from there to see the seals.
You can walk from Blakeney to Wiveton which has a lovely cafe, farm shop etc.

Cley and Wells or Thornham and I would agree with the Victoria at Holkham. Can't really go wrong with walks on the Norfolk coastal path and a boat trip.

I doubt seals will be on the beach at Horsey until later in the autumn. Lovely along that stretch though, Sea Palling and Waxham too. Always freezing when I’ve been!

Thornham -wrong link. Brancaster Staithe or Blakeney. Most are Marshside views as tides play a part in the view.

WaxhamSeals · 30/06/2023 23:28

Seals at Waxham last weekend

Lovely hotel in Blakeney, or Cley Windmill is also a lovely b&b.
