Recommendations for static caravans with nature

We have two children- baby (3 months) and toddler (22 months) and are trying to figure out how to do holidays now.

Pre-children you might have found us in a small campsite in a backpacking tent. Love being outdoors and closer to nature but also something more practical with our new lifestyle (and I don't fancy doing a tent holiday with a small baby.... Yet).

We are quite keen to try a static caravan site or just something a little cheaper/basic. When I have seen holiday parks, they can sometimes be very busy and crowded and rows of metal boxes. As our children are young they also won't benefit from much of the entertainment.

Our ideal holiday would be a forest holiday https://www.forestholidays.co.uk/ but less pricey. We recently stayed at Landal Green Parks Sandybrook. We liked it because there were lots of trees and so it felt quite "in nature" www.360virtualtours.co.uk/tours/landal/sandybrook/index.html. But we are wondering whether there are cheaper options.

Any recommendations? Don't mind basic accommodation, suitable for very young children, relatively cheap and close to nature.

Thanks

Kelling Heath or Forest Park in Norfolk

We stayed here recently and got a great deal
Ok, it’s a caravan park, but much quieter than Haven et al, plus the caravans are situated on or near to lakes. Lots of places locally to explore, including an inland beach

Not a holiday park. But I used to youth hostel with mine when they were little. There's the convenience of kitchen facilities etc and many in the countryside.

Great idea, we hadn't thought of that. I used to enjoy hostels in my 20s. Are there any which are particularly good for kids or any favourites?

I used to mostly use the YHA in my younger years. Loved Tanner's Hatch but it was all dorms so not the best choice now

YHA Boggle Hole has a few private rooms. Very quiet location.
Forest holidays Cropton outside school holidays is lovely & on the edge of the NY Moors.

Thanks everyone for all the links. I'm working my way through them and looking at websites. Fantastic ideas.

@SwedishDeathClearance - I live near Reading, so South East but fairly accessable to the west. I'm open to hearing about places that are special a bit further away though, as they get bigger longer distances will be easier

Kelling Heath in Norfolk is where I'd recommend.

Heathland Beach in Kessingland is a camping and touring site but has a few luxury statics that they rent out. We've stayed in one and had our very own peacock who came to visit every day.

You'll find many have been modernised and often have smaller rooms and many are ensuite. Family rooms are the norm in many. The North Yorkshire coast line are great for dc.

Thanks, looks good. How did you get a good deal? Was it through their webpage or did you use a third party?

Youth hostel family rooms are often more expensive than AirBnBs or cheap hotel rooms though! 🤔

Actually, AirBnB might be a good place to look for this kind of accommodation, as people often plonk a shepherd's hut or a yurt down the bottom of their garden or on their permaculture smallholding or whatever, and advertise it there.

YHA Castleton struck me as being good for children. It’s a country house with a long drive and plenty of grounds to explore.
