Strikes affecting the Underground?

I'm probably missing something, but I can't find definitive info on the effect of the strikes on tube travel. I've got a thing in London on Friday, I'm planning to drive to Wimbledon and get the District line in, probably around 2pm, returning around 11pm. Will this work? Not keen on getting stranded!

The District line won't be affected, other than probably being busier than usual.

There will be some disruption on the Elizabeth line, due to it sharing some facilities with the rail network, but the district should be fine.

Bigger issue might be parking in Wimbledon!

Thanks! You've confirmed what I thought might be the situation, including the parking!

@Hecho The Wimbledon branch IS affected by the strikes as the signallers at Parsons Green go on strike. It usually runs until 4 or 5pm and then shuts down but can shut earlier, depending on which signaller is on and which union they belong to!

My apologies @Hecho, @Houseplantmad is correct - there is potential for the end of that line to be a problem. Apologies again.

You could try parking at Morden, but again parking there isn't great.

I asked TFL if it was affecting the district line and they said no

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your help. I think I'll wing it and head up to Wimbledon and see what happens. Plan B may be a Travelodge 😕

The District line is ALWAYS affected by train strikes as it's a train station at the end. My daughter takes it every day for school and it starts later in the morning and usually shuts down by 6pm latest (often earlier and the tube will stop at Parson's Green and say it's then out of service) and will not start up until 7.30am after strike day, though last time it still wasn't running at 8am.
@MeeThree I wouldn't trust what TFL says, I'd go by experience.
There are busses though, check out a route as a back up.

Thank you Monday, Me, Patricia and House. I've reconsidered the whole thing and am now getting a National Express home! So I can enjoy a 🍸while watching Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club with my old friend I haven't seen since before Covid. Evening saved!!!

Good idea! Have a lovely evening!

Ha good plan

I live on the district line and it's mainly when the signalling staff are on strike that it causes a problem - you probably would have been able to get in but I agree, I wouldn't have bargained on the late night one being fine

Enjoy your trip!
