Canary wharf with tricky age kids! Help!

Hi all,

If you were meeting older friends (OK to walk about a little but not too much) in Canary Wharf for the day, with kids age 11 and 16 (dreaded hard to please ages!), where would you suggest?

I'd thought maybe Crossrail Garden and the American style restaurant nearby. They've suggested Docklands museum but I'm just not sure if the teen in particular will be into that. Open to any other suggestions!

I like Canary Wharf a lot, especially for shopping at weekends as it isn’t too busy. Nice for a browse round some shops and to eat but not much else for a whole day unless there is a particular event on or something. My first thought is to hop on the dlr to Greenwich with your friends instead or for a part of the day. It’s very close and easy with lots more to interest your children.

I agree with Greenwich, super easy to get to from Canary Wharf and lots to do, also more space to just chill if the weather is decent.

Do you live in London normally or is it your DC first visit to the wharf? If they've not been before there are quite a lot of cool shops, restaurants and places. I love the Wharf as it's so convenient. Your idea of Crossrail Place area is pretty good! There's also a bubble tea shop right by there, and if either of your teens is into gaming a geeky gaming den place along there too.

You could try the Market Halls Cargo close by for food which might appeal to the teens.

Depending on budget, the Hawksmoor at Wood Wharf is pretty cool with a jetty area, or there's a cheaper couple of bar restaurants along the Harbour Quay Gardens with outside seating. Alternatively there's a Dishoom near there which might be popular with teenagers.

The Novotel off Marsh Wall has a fairly impressive rooftop bar/restaurant - not particularly expensive or posh.

I agree that unless your teens are particularly into museums the MoL won't necessarily engage - our child loves it but he is 2!

However that area of West India Quay is also another great place to meet and you're spoilt for choice right places to eat along there eg Browns, Burger and Lobster?

Great shopping in the wharf etc for after your older friends leave I guess, plus if you get time some fab entertainment and a really cool cinema.
