Train tickets - Scotland to England

I'm trying to book train tickets for my family over the summer, travelling from Scotland (probably Glasgow) to somewhere for a long weekend.

I'm putting details into the Trainline website, Glasgow to Manchester, to get an idea of how much this might cost and I'm getting nowhere.

If I put in dates in July/August it says prices aren't available yet.

If I put in dates in May/June it says they are all sold out Confused

Does anybody know any better websites I could try?

Trainline includes Lumo fares.

Look at split ticketing websites, they can be considerably cheaper for non-direct journeys.

If travel sickness is the only reason why you are ruling out coach journeys, try Stugeron.
You can buy it over the counter - no need for a prescription - and it’s very effective. Take two tablets an hour before you set off, and another one tablet after 8 hours if necessary (for longer journeys).
I found it an absolute game changer- from being sick every coach trip, I became able to have entire coach touring holidays of the Baltic states, Switzerland, Germany and Italy!

If you have Clubcard points, you can use them to buy a Railcard to give you a discount .

Look at the split ticketing website, and definitely Railcard-even on 1 trip you can get your money back

I get travel sick on the Glasgow to London line sometimes.

The advance fairs will be cheaper and then you take the friends and family discount off but like flying you can't change them etc.

It's a very long drive though and then that could make me travel sick too unless driving.

Btw, you can buy the railcards with clubcard points I think.

You can (usually at three times so a third of the cost).

Tesco clubcard offers change soon, end of June I think. You won't get 3 x as much anymore Sad

You really need to look at all the options and try to book early. I just played around with a long weekend in July for 2 adults and 2 children from Edinburgh to York with a Family Railcard for105.00 return.

You can use the Clubcard to buy the railcard.
