Camping in our tent, cheap but happy fun ☺️

Nimbostratus100 · 06/05/2023 16:47

I second camping

ChickenMacaroni · 06/05/2023 16:48

2cholidays.co.uk and use code 15off, we tend to get 4 nights away in a 3 bed caravan for about £440.

Snuzzle · 08/05/2023 20:48

We're having 3 nights in Liverpool. Hotel was £284 including breakfast for 3 of us and train was £100.
We've booked to do the Anfield stadium tour - DD's main reason for wanting to go - but otherwise the plan is to visit free museums and I've exchanged tesco club card vouchers for tickets to the new Eureka.
Including the ferry to eureka and food it should come in at around £600

I think that as shown above its virtually impossible to do anything for 7 nights for that price other than with your own tent

MissingMoominMamma · 08/05/2023 20:57

Camping in Anglesey.

MadEyeMoodysEye · 08/05/2023 21:09

Just follow the link- it's with Hoseason so you can search and see if you can get something similar 😉

I'm bumping this! I'm looking vaguely at 2024 though. Found a few Haven sites with Mon-Fri end of August 2024 for around £400.

Us too! We started looking at holiday locations, first abroad then in this country, but city breaks seem much more reasonable with lots to do if it rains.

A caravan on a farm in north wales, found it on air b and b

Inthebathagain · 14/05/2023 19:54

5 nights in Wroclaw, Poland.

Return flight £67
Airbnb £342

Snuzzle · 14/05/2023 20:01

@malteezer we've never really been the type of family to do beach holidays, city breaks suit us so much more and DD is loving exploring the UK.
We like to pick somewhere that has something DD is especially interested in and then research what else we can do there

Biscuitandacuppa · 14/05/2023 20:10

A week in North Wales camping £120 for May Half Term.

A week in Derbyshire for the 1st week of the summer hols camping £112.

A week mid August in Northumberland camping £125.

Couldn’t afford a weeks self catering in costa brava or a weekend in a caravan peak season in the U.K. for those prices!

Buy a tent and a decent airbed and you can get away for a fraction of the price.

Mummysgonetobed · 14/05/2023 20:14

4 nights on a working farm in Derbyshire for £450 in July and a week at a haven type place in Northumberland for similar price in august.

Sweetandsourdough · 14/05/2023 20:15

UK tent camping.

Groovee · 14/05/2023 20:17

Last year we went to an Airbnb off the beaten track between Durham and Hartlepool. It was bliss. M-F was £285.

This year going glamping in the Scottish Borders for £398.

Scottish schools return mid August and we tend to go the first 2 weeks of July to England when it’s still a bit cheaper for us.

DyslexicPoster · 14/05/2023 20:21

Premier Inn in a city centre with breakfast but for 4 nights. They normally have a budget restaurant with bar attached so it's easy to get back in the evening with the kids and just fall into the pub for dinner. If it wasn't this it would be Haven. You can get a basic caravan with no heating in the summer. Winter, not so comfy in the basic models

Corkcobain · 14/05/2023 20:27

Were going canping in Dorset and Cornwall. Couldn't find anything else we could afford so, at least the kids will enjoy it.

Here?

Camp! We just paid £12 a night for late August. (Would be £2 extra per child or dog) Pembrokeshire. Allows fires and bbq's. Lovely local supermarket with great local butcher selection for nicer stuff or Tesco deliver to the site. Walking distance to amazing beach, pick up wetsuits and body boards in advance second hand or from decathlon/sports direct. Ditto hiking boots and decent water proof jackets. Kids will love it

katmarie · 15/05/2023 16:40

We have 7 nights at Pontins in Wales, for £430, booked in their January sale, to go in the August holiday.
