Dunfermline area - places to eat?

One of my DSs has a sports event near Dunfermline on Sunday. It's quite a long journey for us so we're going to make a weekend of it and drive up on Saturday and I am looking for some recommendations of places to eat please. We are staying in the Travelodge but don't mind driving out of town - looking for good pub food really rather than haute cuisine. Somewhere pretty where we can stretch our legs a bit before dinner would be ideal as we will have spent a fair bit of the day in the car.
Also can anyone recommend somewhere in the town where we'd be able to get a cooked breakfast on Sunday morning? The Travelodge only does breakfast bags which are a bit rubbish at the best of times, but DS's match begins at midday so he (and we!) will need something much more substantial to keep him going until afterwards. I have spotted that there's a McDonalds not far away so I guess if the worst comes to the worst it will be sausage McMuffins but I really fancy a proper cooked breakfast!
If anyone is local or has visited recently I'd really appreciate any recommendations.

Pub grub - head to Culross to the Red Lion. You might need to book though. Walk round the village.

Indian - Apricot is nice. I'd say Khushis but they had a fire upstairs on Friday so....

Japanese - koko shi

Both in centre of town and close to the Glen for a leg stretch.

The Glen Tavern also good for pub grub and you can have a walk round the Glen, Abbey etc too.

Re the breakfast. There's a harvester, brewers fayre, sweet chestnut all nearby. I haven't tried the breakfast though.

There's a wetherspoons on the high Street. It'll be full of drunks at night but they may do breakfast?

Thanks both - I'll check those ideas out. I had been wondering about stopping in Culross en route actually, it looks lovely. We won't have a lot of time for sightseeing unfortunately as we will be heading back home pretty smartish after DS has finished his match but I'd like to get a quick look around the area.

Def go to Culross. If you're there on a Sunday, there's a tiny but wonderful craft and food market in front of the Palace. Think its about 10 stalls but if you're there, it's worth a wander round.

Have a look at Christies for a nice meal - it's a Scottish take on tapas and it's lovely. The restaurant isn't at the nicest place - it's a big standard retail/leisure park type place but it's worth a visit if you are nearby.

Pittencrieff park in the city centre is lovely for a walk and has a good play area if DS is young enough for that sort of thing.
