Alton towers ride access pass

We're thrilled to be going to Alton towers in a couple of months time. Family of 4, me, DH, DS1 and DS2. DS2 is 3, has a hearing loss and is on various pathways for assessment of additional needs. The suspicion is that his hearing loss is affecting his audio and sensory processing as well as his communication. He finds noisy, busy environments really tricky, and communicates that in typically more challenging ways as he struggles to communicate what's happening. However, he would love Cbeebies land.

Apparently we can apply for a Ride access pass which would mean he wouldn't have to queue but I've gone online to try to do so and am completely bewildered. It seems like we can't do so while we're going through the diagnosis process and of course, that's a slow one. I just wondered if anyone else had gone through this kind of thing and knew how to go about applying. It asks for DLA which I've not considered applying for. Or consultant letters which we don't have as we're still being assessed/ observed.

Thanks in advance

I think it could be tricky getting it with your lack of evidence given where you are in the process. I would consider applying for DLA either now or once you have diagnosis for sure.
You could ring and speak to them- I found them very helpful when I suddenly realised I should have applied for the access card weeks before not two days before!
Gulliver's in Matlock is great for very manageable queues - we went this weekend and only queued for one ride for 5 mins.

Hello, I think you need to apply for an Access card. You don’t need to get DLA to be eligible for one I don’t think. Just explain everything and add as much evidence as you can.

You need to have an access card before you can apply for the ride access pass.

If you get awarded the queuing symbol you’ll be able to get the RAP. You’ll need to supply as much evidence as possible, any letters from paediatricians or other consultants explaining his hearing loss and how that impacts him would help.

Im profoundly deaf and don’t qualify for DLA or an Access card and can’t get a ride access pass because of this. Unfortunately you’ll most probably have to queue, it is frustrating however CBeebies land is very relaxed and noise isn’t too big of a problem. Avoid the bigger rides (the tracks can be sensory overload and quite surprising as come out of of nowhere to people like me as the vibrations are felt before you see the rides) however CBeebies land hasn’t got that issue and you can definitely spend the whole day in there alone 😌

Also.. might be worth mentioning only the person and guardian of the person will qualify to skip the lines so your OH and DC1 will more than likely still have to wait in line 😞 which has been my experience when visiting with my line of work (LD support worker).
