using a train ticket on a strike day

I've booked a long train journey on a strike day. At the moment it looks like most of the route will be operating, but the final stretch is cancelled. We could get a taxi for the last bit at a cost of approx £200. The (return) train tickets cost about £500. Am I right in thinking we'll get a full refund of £500 if the outbound leg is cancelled/delayed by more than an hour?

As far as I'm aware, no. Not if your ticket has scanned and been used on the first part of the journey. Happy to be wrong though!

I think It needs to be 2 hours or more for a return refund. Your train operator website should have details.

Yes, you're right, it is two hours, and I did know/mean that! We would effectively be delayed by 2+ hours

If the last leg is cancelled I don't think it's part of the delay repay scheme. Moneysavingexpert says this about part journeys:

If you've used any part of the ticket, you'll get less back. Check with the individual company exactly how much you can reclaim.
