Hotel in Cambridge?

I am travelling to Cambridge to visit a friend who works at the university and I also want to take the opportunity to visit the town.

I am travelling on my own, will be arriving by train, any suggestions for a convenient & comfy hotel for about 3 days?

If you’re just looking for somewhere to rest your head each night, and don’t need anything too fancy, then I’d recommend Cambridge House. If you want something a bit more luxurious, then Clayton Hotel.

@Fivemoreminutes1 Thank you!!

What sort of budget? I normally stay at Premier Inn or similar. Cambridge (East) is about 15-20 minutes' walk from the centre and was generally fine (although went I went recently there was building work nearby which started early!)

I just stayed at the Hilton and found that to be very comfortable and an ideal location.

Your friend my be able to book you a college guest room in the college where she works ?

The Graduate hotel is lovely and in a great location. Not the cheapest though.

Hotel du Vin is lovely but possibly a little romantic/coupley!

Not the place if you’re doing it on a budget but the University Arms is right in the midst of things, lovely and has fantastic food.

When last in Cambridge we walked past a place called The Fellows' House with the tagline "feel like a fellow." My DP, who is an academic, was highly amused; stressed, overworked, and underfunded?

I like university arms between train station and city centre easy to find.

I’d second trying to stay in College accommodation. Much more atmospheric and Cambridge hotels are very expensive.

I would recommend universityrooms.com
You get to stay in college accommodation, but it certainly isn't the same as student dorms. We stayed at Jesus College a couple of years ago. Wonderful central location, beautiful room with a large double bed and a beautiful view over the college gardens (in gorgeous new building, but built in sympathetic style), plus access to the grounds and chapel. The bathroom was shared, but exceptionally clean, and most of our time there there was no-one else staying so we had it to ourselves. And it was CHEAP.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions.

I am definitely not sharing a bathroom! way too old for that, so I really want a proper hotel.

I am staying for 2 nights only so it does not have to be expensive but I do want something comfortable.

I will look at all the other places you have suggested.
