Eastbourne for a spring break?

Thinking of a spring break in Eastbourne but don’t know anything about the area. Is it a nice place or one of the more faded, rundown UK seaside places?

Any suggestions on where to stay with a sea view and what to do for 3-4 days in March.

Thanks.

Hi

My family is from Eastbourne and I would say it is not posh but definitely not faded.

There is a zoo nearby which is easy to get to if you drive. There are also a few visitors centres on the coastal walks and some nice cafes and pubs in Old Town. Because I go down and stay with family I can not recommend any sea views I'm afraid.

If you have more specific things you want to see I can give you some more input

Faded grandure covers most of it TBH - there's not a lot to do. There's a good theatre/concert hall (The Congress) but it depends what's on. Nice walks along the prom, and I could recommend an excellent fish & chip restaurant. If you will have a car you could get to Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters for walks. the downs are lovely
alfriston too
the zoo is for children, very expensive

There are three theatres in Eastbourne - and plenty of bracing walks nearby - Drusilla's is good for kids. You could go a few miles to Pevensey Castle or a bit further to Battle if history is your thing. What type of thing do you want to do?

Eastbourne has nice scenery, defo not posh. All I would say is not too much for kids to do down there (I know you haven't mentioned kids but just in case)

I went the other day and I myself found it quite boring compared to other seaside towns although plus side hotels are fairly cheap.

go along to hastings for mini golf

Pier, crazy golf.Fortress museum. It's not hectic like Brighton. Hastings, train, cliff railway, definitely Faded. My youngest DD moved bang in the centre, near the station last year, absolutely loves it. Her kids are 11,12,5 months.I live in a village just outside.

Thanks everyone. I would be going on my own for a relaxing break. I love walking but would only want to walk where it wasn’t too isolated.

My main criteria is a nice sea view hotel with some places of interest to visit on my own so any other suggestions of UK coastal places would be appreciated, doesn’t necessarily need to be on the south coast.
