Premier Inn ID

Hey all, my daughter is wanting to stay in a premier inn but has lost her ID, was wondering if they ask you for ID if you’ve paid by card and use a check in kiosk.

Don't think I ever have to show ID at Premier Inns. Maybe the card I paid with. But normally nothing.

They don’t ask for ID when you check in. In fact, most of them have a computerized check in now anyway, so you don’t even see a member of staff.

i've never been asked for ID in any UK hotel although I guess if she's young and potentially looks under 18 they might ask to see it?

Emma beat me to it

For the majority of the time Premiere Inn don’t ask for ID, but it’s in their terms that they may ask for photographic ID and could refuse a stay

To check in she would normally need just the booking name / reference and / or the card used to book

If she looks young then that increases the chances of her being challenged

As per your original question, if she uses a kiosk then if she has the card used to book then she should be able to just swipe in, otherwise she needs the name and booking reference or may get away with postcode instead of the reference.

Unless she looks young and is spotted by a very keen receptionist then she should be fine - but if there is a receptionist sat there and she furtively avoids contact to go for the kiosk then that could attract a nosy receptionist

If she’s over 18 and has her booking details then she will be fine.

An option is to see if she ever took a photo of her ID, and to have that handy - if she didn’t then when the replacement comes she can take a copy (and file it in a secure app)

If she has a credit card in her name that’s usually enough, as you can’t get one under 18.

i have added my dd to one of mine as a second cardholder so she has a cc in her name. As she’s still doing a’levels she has no income so can’t get one herself.

She uses it for stuff like booking into hotels as they tend to want a card on file and has been fine.

You need ID if paying using cash or looking young otherwise you don't need it at all.
