A303 with two under two - best rest stops?

My family (me, DH and our two year old and three month old) will soon be taking several trips from London to Exeter along the A303. Last time we did this journey we stopped at one of the many roadside Starbucks along there and it was grim - expensive, no outdoor space for the toddler to let off steam, and the food options were rubbish. If you're familiar with this route or live along it, what are your recommendations for good places to stop and take a break? We don't mind coming off the road a bit to go into a town, tourist attraction or pub / farm shop, as long as it has somewhere the toddler can roam about a bit and ideally somewhere we can eat.

Definitely try stopping at Hauser and Wirth in Bruton next time. Small detour from the a303 but it's a free gallery with huge landscape garden, sculpture, and a really lovely restaurant/cafe. 100% worth the detour.

NT membership should give you access to Stonehenge. It’s the only attraction that is dual - NT own the land around, EH manage the stones.

Pythouse Kitchen is lovely. As is Messums (also in Tisbury) - gallery, open space and lovely food.

Also Bruton for Hauser & Wirth gallery / Roth Bar & Grill & At The Chapel.

@Peekingovertheparapet Stonehenge isn’t the only joint NT / EH property eg Housesteads on Hadrian’s Wall is too.

Thanks @AliMonkey I didn’t realise, but am very happy to know

I would echo people saying Stourhead. Plenty of room to stretch your legs and a large cafe. If you want a short, winding walk without going into the main grounds, you can follow the path down the slope from the entrance pavilion to a courtyard where there is an Inn, which also does food.
