Places to eat central London

Hi, we have 3 nights in London booked in Feb half term, with kids aged 5 & 7. We went last year but stayed further out. This year we're staying near Westminster Bridge and looking for recommendations for places to eat - ideally family friendly but not child centred (not keen on Rainforest Cafe etc) and not too expensive please! We're planning to visit the British Museum, Tate Modern & Sky Garden, so any suggestions near these very gratefully received too. Thank you

There are loads of child friendly places on the south bank v near to your hotel on the other side of the London Eye - Giraffe, Wagamama, that sort of thing. Just wander up and down until you find one you like!

There's a nice pizza place at Gabriels' Wharf by the Oxo building, the Parlour at Fortnum & Mason for icecream, grazing at Borough Market (burgers, mezze and paella), the original Pizza Express with its lovely tiles close to the British Museum.

I definitely recommend Pane Cunzato - a gorgeous little Sicilian restaurant near the British Museum. Proper pizza and pasta at very reasonable prices.
Nearer to Westminster, our Dc love Brewdog Waterloo as it has a slide and an ice cream truck! My DH loves their great choice of beers!

We love going here - really amazing food stalls and you can eat inside as well as outside.

Some classics on The Cut behind Waterloo station----

I would plan to eat your main meal at lunchtime - lots of great lunch deals in soho / Covent Garden and then grab something lighter in the evening.

Most restaurants are child friendly and very relaxed at lunchtime - so j wouldn't worry too much about where you go.

Borough market has lots of cool places to eat, there are lots of great street food too in markets as well as restaurants

Also with little ones a supper hotel room picnic is fun - and cheaper - most places deliver with Uber eats so you can have a lot of fun choosing delivery options and cheap drinks too.
Handy if they are tired and bit grumpy

Tas - lovely Turkish food, decent but informal, not expensive.

There are several branches: near the British Museum, near Tate Modern, and opposite the Young Vic (10 minutes walk from Waterloo).

I'd also say Borough market, something for everyone and not £££.
Chinatown is also cheap and cheerful with lots of atmosphere, and just off Leicester Sq if you wanted to walk around there
If you like South Indian food, Dosas, Thalis etc then Drummond St off Euston rd is amazing and super cheap.
Coal Drops yard, Kings X is nice to wander round, but you will pay a bit more for food.
