Recommendation for a week with 3under 3

DH and I want to go away somewhere in England next year as we haven't had a holiday since 2019. We have 3 kids under 3. Any recommendations of places to go that are cheap, but also very kid friendly are appreciated! We did look at Center Parcs as that would be ideal, but slightly out of our price range for the months we could go.

Butlins just for tots. Hideous for the adults perfect for the kids.

Or, we loved IoW at that age.

How far are you willing to travel and where are you starting from?
Any of the big holiday sites such as Hoseasons, Haven and Parkdean might work for you although if you need travel cots there's often not much space in the bedrooms of caravans.

We're in Leeds and willing to travel about 2-3 hours by car.

Delaney hotel in st Anne's - they do HB and a kids entertainment programme

Definitely Butlins. Is the Skegness one close enough?

If not any caravan park will be fine but not as good.

I missed out on 3 under 3 by five days. 😀

Thanks! The issue I'm coming across in caravan park places is that we'd need 3 travel cots and because of the size of the rooms we wouldn't fit them in :/ DH suggested a tent instead, but I shut that down quick! 😂

Sorry, I forgot to come back to this! How old are the kids?

How old? Can the older two go in beds or ask for beds to be taken out so they can have mattresses on the floor?

Mine went in beds at Butlins at 2 years old and would have been fine when younger than that (didn't holiday before then).

Sorry to be a downer but I wouldn't do it. We also have 3 under 3 (or until recently). We tried one holiday with family help. Absolute misery - we learned the value of their space and routine. Although our then 2 year old did get a dashing forehead scar from running around with such massive over excitement that he went straight into a wall and nearly knocked himself out.

These days I would put the pot of money aside, cancel all other plans and give yourselves a proper formal staycation, starting with having your house deep-cleaned and then go out for a great adventure every day, and get meals from Cook or something.

Or alternatively, spend the holiday money on a garden room with a sofa bed. Camp out one night a week and call it the holiday chalet :-)

White cross bay Windermere (hoseasons). We went with 3 small ones (not quite all under 3)- stayed in a 3 bed lodge/caravan- the bedrooms were big and the living area and kitchen was very generous too - I called up to book and they were very helpful. There's a lovely little pool on site, a disco in the evening, a kids play area and a boat launch (we didn't have a boat but the kids liked watching!). There's a small shop on site and a restaurant. There is plenty to see locally- we went to Beatrix potter museum which was lovely.
Our kids also love the combe haven caravan site in Hastings but might be a bit far for you. My brother takes his young kids to Butlins in skegness- it's a bit full on for me but definitely plenty to do!
As something a bit different, we also did a city break to Edinburgh staying in an Airbnb and doing the touristy things which was also good (although definitely more exhausting than the caravan parks!)
We have done centre parcs and bluestone in Wales but both are too pricey for us now.

Personally I would look at North Wales and some of the privately owned caravans on Haven sites etc, these are usually a better standard and more flexible.
We have used this site twice

How about a cottage or lodge? Scarborough/filey/Bridlington not to far, easy to get around with pushchairs and more likely to be able to fit 3 travel cots than a caravan.

Caspianberg · 15/12/2022 16:37

Can you rent a cottage somewhere? Just 2 hr max drive from you

what ages exactly? My 2 year old was up and out hotel travel cot at 22 months, so he’s slept on a bed or sofa bed in hotel since the last few months.
If one is under 5/6 months can they sleep in Moses basket or pram bassinet

EcoCustard · 26/12/2022 15:18

I had 4 under 4 and cottages worked best for us in the UK, but we only ever had 2 of them in a travel cot, they slept in beds past 18m-2 years. Norfolk was good lots to do if it rained, and beaches for good weather days.
