Where else might I like?

Looking for a UK city break for August next year for myself, sister and friend for my 50th. Pref somewhere we don't need to fly to. We are in Worcestershire.

I love Bath, Winchester type places.

2/3 nights so want decent restaurants and things to see as well as independent shopping.

All suggestions welcome.

York (but not when the races are on)
I'm not sure if Lincoln would occupy you for 2/3 nights.
Oxford definitely (preferred it to Cambridge)

Chichester is lovely

York.

You could even jump on a train and have a trip to Durham or Harrogate from there, but there is plenty to occupy you in York for a week.

Dartmouth.

Just to add another couple depending on how far you want to travel -Truro (maybe combine with a trip to Bodmin Moor, depending on time of year), and possibly Totnes, though they're both a lot smaller than Bath, certainly.

I would also suggest Glastonbury but if you're not into New Age type vibes, maybe not....Wells in Somerset is also nice, though again, quite small compared to Bath or Winchester.

And I found central Birmingham surprisingly interesting although I was being shown round by a native Brummie and they were under strict instructions to only show me the nice bits...In the same area, you might like Worcester, that's quite picturesque since it was done up; and personally I quite like Hereford-way.

And then at the other end of the scale there's Edinburgh, though I think that might already have been mentioned by others. And if you're going in that direction in winter, wrap up warm. (Actually, if you're going in August, wrap up warm!)

Edinburgh will be rammed in August. Lyme Regis is a good shout, close to Bridport for quirky shopping and lovely coastal places to visit. You’d need a car to make the most of it.
