Hi everyone!
My name is Max. I'm going to London for the first time in my life with my little baby next week. My kid is 2 years old. What can I do with him in London?
thanks for your tips
Greetings!

Winter wonderland in Hyde park could be nice for kid. Coram Fields in Kings Cross is fun also.
Have fun

Science and Natural History museums in South Kensington, red bus ride or riverboat(Oxford Street and Regent Street lights,
Selfridges and Hamleys shop windows), London Aquarium, Changing the Guards at Buckingham Palace or HorseGuards parade.

maksiiking · 23/11/2022 16:56

thank you

Agreed - natural history museum and science museum….the good thing is that if they’re not meant to touch or walk somewhere the museum will have barriers/cases etc, if they can touch ..the museum encourages it
go see the dinosaurs, whale, and science museum for massive water play ( hydrology experiment) and the steam engines running.
good cafe
look up which exhibits to view- it’ll be too much for a 2 year old to do it all and some rooms will be a bit boring at that age

changing guard is ok - as long as get good view for little one which means a lot of waiting.

Why would anyone want to go to a museum about someone who tortured women and killed them on a crescendo of terror and agony? let alone call it 'culture.'

Piglet1122 · 23/11/2022 17:17

It’s a big part of history here and you don’t know if you’ll ever come here again. It’s not something I would risk missing out on. There’s good and bad everywhere and this should be outlined early on in life. My dd age 4 loves it

maksiiking · 23/11/2022 17:20

Thank you all for your advice I will take it to heart.

It's not a big part of history. If anything, it's a few lines about London in the 1880s.

Piglet1122 · 23/11/2022 17:24

its not a few lines it went on for 3 years and it’s had a profound effect on not just Britain but the whole of Europe

That is the worst idea ever, Winter Wonderland is a shithole in recent years and I wouldn't take a teen never mind a toddler!

Has everyone missed the kid is two?!

HappyHamsters · 23/11/2022 17:27

There's so much to do, a lot depends on what part of London you are staying, toddlers get tired, will you being a buggy, you need lots of warm waterproof clothes as the weather is awful at the moment.

TheOpportuneMoment · 23/11/2022 17:27

You can get the boat down the Thames to Greenwich.

Then go to the Maritime Museum which is great for kids. There's a good play area and a giant world map on the floor up from that with boats and things to push around. If you're there on a Tuesday they also have Play Tuesday's for under 5's with songs etc.

Then there's the park to walk through, with great views, and the Cutty Sark (big boat) to look at.

Near Greenwich (a couple of stops on the DLR is also Mudchute City Farm, which is nice for kids.

The Museum of London Docklands (also nearby at Canary Wharf) has also got a good play area for little ones.

Kymy · 23/11/2022 17:27

I'd go to the London aquarium as it's interesting for a 2 year old.

I use to take my DC's to The Tate Modern as it's easy for them to toddle around (also close to London aquarium)

Oxford Street/carnaby street/regents street when dark for Xmas lights

Horniman museum is sweet but in forest hill so not central

You do t have to puff yourself all up and rise to everything.

Piglet1122 · 23/11/2022 17:28

Escape room?

Escape room?

With a 2 year old?

DelphiniumBlue · 23/11/2022 17:31

With a 2 year old? Covent garden to see the street performers, Kensington Gardens for a playground, Science museum ( there are very child friendly hands-on interactive rooms there), Santa at Selfridges. Sadly the 2 year old will remember very little so try to do things that you want to see.
My boys used to enjoy the London Transport museum, which is in Covent Garden.

HappyHamsters · 23/11/2022 17:32

Minimum age is 10 for any escape room, some are 12, or 17.

Turmerictolly · 23/11/2022 17:34

Some of these suggestions are weird! The child is two so why suggest Jack the Ripper Museum and an Escape Room!

Kensington gardens has a large and lovely play area. If it's raining, the London Aquarium. The natural history and science museums are free and have areas for very young children. Local leisure centres usually have soft play sessions. Greenwich, as outlined by a previous poster, is a nice day out for all of the family and Greenwich Park also has a good playground.
