The Cotswolds- advice

Hi all
I'm wanting to get my parents in law a break away for Xmas. I have looked at the lovely castle Combe which seems to be a lovely picturesque spot but when I have searched other areas of the Cotswolds it's an hour drive to other places such as bourton on the water and puzzle wood etc. I'm sure they wouldn't mind driving for a day out but just wondered if castle Combe is a good location to see the Cotswolds? I know it's near to bath too which will be nice to explore. Any advice would be great 😊

I feel that the north of the Cotswolds has more to offer a first-time visitor. Also, I think it’s got more picture-postcard towns and villages that are equally as lovely as Castle Combe - Burford, Stow on the Wold, The Slaughters and Broadway to name a few. They could also do a day trip to Blenheim, Adam Henson’s farm, Batsford arboretum etc…

I’d also recommend one of the north Cotswolds towns recommended by the pp for a first time visit as there’s way more places of interest within short distances. Castle Combe is lovely for a short visit (and in the early morning/late afternoon without the day trippers) but it’s very small and there isn’t that much of interest nearby (Lacock Abbey is worth a visit). If the trip is a bit longer you could also consider splitting it over Castle Combe and somewhere else as 2 nights is about enough for Castle Combe (my opinion only of course!)
