Oyster travel card for 15 year old need help

My partner's daughter is 15, she takes a train from Mill Hill to Elstree & Borehamwood to school. My partnet told me that she pays around £10 a day for a return trip. I checked train ticket price for a return trip for under 16 and it should be £3.70 anytime return. When I asked my partner if she has a child oyster she said yes, and she used that oyster when she was in a different school and had to take a bus and she was getting free trips. But now it looks like that by some reason train company is charging her adult fee on her oyster card. Are we missing something, did we have to tick a box somewhere in order for her to get a discount on these train trips? this is all new to me and have no idea who to call or where to look. Paying twice as much in these hard times is putting a lot of pressure on us. Please help

Has she got a Zip card? My 15 year old has an 11-15 card which gives him discounts on the regular train fares, albeit a different part of London

She should have an 11-16 Oyster Zip Card. These cost £10 to buy and require a photo.
Infact with one of those the journey price should be even less. My daughter is 14 and with her Zip Card a Zone 3 to Zone 1 journey cost 80p (one way) last week.

Bus journeys are free to children if they have an Oyster Zip. Train or tube journeys aren’t free but £10 a day seems a lot. Is she touching in and out?

it should be easy enough to check her Zip card journeys online through her account.

My partner said she got child card and she used it on bus trips to other school and she was getting free trips back then. But I'll check with her if it's actually zip card with her photo. Thank for you for pointing that out.

Thanks, I did ask my partner to give me her daughter's card username and password to check what's going. And I'll definitely check with her daughter if she's tapping in and tapping out. But they are both sleeping already so I'll check tomorrow

I checked the price. The morning should be £1.70. Return journey if she travels before 4 o'clock it would be 80p.
So she shouldn't be paying more than £3.40 a day (or £2.50 if she manages to get off peak for the return journey)

wow that's a very good price, I'll definitely check with my partner and her daughter if she's got a photo zip card and if not I'll get her one. Thank you

oh wow, thank you very much for doing this. I think she finishes school at 15:00 so she should be able to catch a train before 4 but come to think about it again it is a long walk from school and trains are not that frequent so she might be taking one after 4 but still as you said shouldn't be more that 3.40 a day
