Has anyone used the Elizabeth Line from Heathrow to Shenfield? I know it's not actually direct at the moment, but wondering how much walking between platforms there is (particularly if you have a few suitcases..)

Hi OP, I don't know personally, but have you searched for the journey on the TFL journey planner? That includes estimates of any walking needed during a journey. You can also get accessibility information for individual stations on their site, which presumably tells you about lifts, escalators etc.

It's a short walk at Paddington 2 mins max, much shorter than changing tubes most places. There are lifts and escalators- very easy transfer.
And from mid November you won't have to change at Paddington. If you do need to change train it would be from the same platform, just step off and wait for the next one.

When are you needing to use it?

Currently you need to change at Liverpool Street, which is a bit of a pain as you’ll come in on the underground bit and then have to get to a platform at the far end of the main station - I’d say it takes 5 - 10 minutes.

If you’re going after 6 November then it will be much easier as you can change at any of the “central” stations (I’d probably do Farringdon) and just wait on the same platform.

Thanks.
Annoyingly it's 3rd Nov that I have family flying over to visit. They're older and will have a few big suitcases, so don't want to make them do the multiple changes if it's going to be too hard for them.

I believe at the moment they'd have to change at Paddington and Liverpool St. Though sounds like Liverpool St is the one that might be the one that's trickier for them

There are lifts both at Paddington and Liverpool Street which will help anyone with suitcases.
