Help me with a destination for DH surprise 50th

DH is 50 in February. He has entrusted me to organise a weekend away the destination/exact details of which would be a surprise. We live in the North West but could travel up to 3 hours including flying (don't live far from a major airport) .
Have already done Edinburgh so not there.

Budget around £500 for accom plus travel. Just us, kids would be left with grandparents.

He likes live music, the odd drink and maybe an interesting museum or somewhere to visit.

Hit me up with your ideas please!

There's sooooo much more to do in Glasgow than Dublin. Those two would be my frontrunners with your budget.

Dublin would feel like getting away though. Glasgow easier to travel to.

Belfast has a great historic pub owned by the National Trust, The Crown Bar. As others have said lots going on. With that time of year though I would be tempted to see if your local airport has flights to Jersey or Newquay if you want to stay in UK.

Look up Wrocław in Poland . I am here at the moment and it's absolutely fantastic!!
