We're thinking of booking a few nights here in October half term, but I'm concerned that it's a bit out on a limb and we'd struggle to entertain two under 5s, especially on a rainy day! Can anyone recommend any family friendly things to do or places to see in the area? Happy to drive half an hour or so but wouldn't really want to go much further than that

Not a holiday hotspot then Grin oh well, that's answered my question I suppose!

We went to N M a few years ago for October half term, it's very small but lovely and there are a few great pubs for eating out in. There are loads of walks you can do, our kids were older than yours though. Pennywell Farm is about half an hour away. Plymouth has a fantastic aquarium and there is probably other stuff to do there.

The pubs are great, The Ship has lovely food, cliff walk lovely. Lots to do in Plymouth - try The Box, Plymouth Hoe and Barbican (great fish and chips here) Dartmoor lovely walks, Mothecombe beach is so nice. I agree Pennywell is lovely for young kids. Modbury and Totnes lovely shops. And it is a short hop to Cornwall if you want to venture. Salcombe and Dartmouth also beautiful.

Stayed in NM this year. We are retired so can't help on children's activities but as above a lovely area to explore. Coast, inland and a city. National Trust and English Heritage often have children centered activities in the holidays and there are membership offers.

Thanks for all these great tips! We still haven't got round to booking anywhere Grin and I still love the look of the area. How is the drive into Plymouth, is it easy enough or does there tend to be lots of traffic etc?
