On my own in Glasgow for a day

Hi all,
I will be at a loose end in Glasgow for a day mid-week in early September until the rest of my party turns up in time for afternoon tea. Any recommendations on things to do on my own that aren't too energy-sapping? (I have never been to Glasgow before so am a bit nervous.)

My health isn't great but I can walk around for a while as long as there aren't any big hills to climb!

Also recommendations for good places for afternoon tea/late lunch would be appreciated. It is for a group of middle aged ladies and one husband (lucky him!).

Maybe do an open-top bus tour so you can see everything, not have to worry about getting lost and don’t have to walk at all!
If you have time to hop-on hop-off, I’d recommend the following stops:
George Square to see the City Chambers, Glasgow Cathedral and Kelvingrove Art Gallery.

How are you getting to Glasgow?

HeddaGarbled · 23/08/2022 20:21

The Kelvingrove is brilliant and eclectic and has a cafe.

Thank you @HeddaGarbled and @Fivemoreminutes1.

@Earlymenopausesucks I'm flying in on Easyjet, arriving at 8:30am.

Kelvingrove apparently also has a luggage store—that was next on my list of things to find.
It seems slightly ridiculous to me that I have lived in cities all over the world but am nervous about spending a few hours on my own at a loose end in Glasgow!

There used to be a left luggage at Central station, you could get the bus from the airport and dump your luggage there then do the HOHO bus.

I was going to post a similar question ! I’m in Glasgow this Saturday with nothing planned before going to see Sarah millican.
your suggestions please!

I'm a big fan of the people's palace. It's not as good as it was previously but still a nice way to spend an hour or so.

Do you like museums? Shopping? Eating? Activities? Parks?

Plan for rainy/ not rainy as it will affect your day!

Don't be nervous - it's a great place and you will love it. Kelvingrove/Kelvinbridge area is super chilled - if you go to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery then take a walk in Kelvingrove Park, it's lovely in the autumn. And if you like a walk it takes you straight into the Botanic Gardens without actually having to leave the Park - and the shops/cafes are nice around there too.
