Things to do around Leeds with teens

Have got a 5 day break booked starting Sunday with my SIL and literally haven't thought about it at all (we just got back from our covid delayed 'abroad' holiday and all my energy went into that)

We will have
my 12 yo DS (mostly happy to do anything)
my 15 yo DS (not particularly happy to move at all. Hates everything. Apart from food. and wifi.)
16 yo DNiece (also fond of wifi but likes clothes shopping and musical theatre.)
18 yo DNiece (likes a good book - mostly happy to do anything.)

I can't walk very far /fast but I will have my mobility scooter with me. Therefore not interested in country walk type things. More touristy and town type things.

We have cars and happy to travel up to about 45 mins away from Horsforth where we are staying.

SIL wants to visit Bronte places which is fine.
DH just likes supermarkets and will do as he's told

Can anyone throw some suggestions at me?

Xscape is a must (it has lots of thibgs but we love the skiing) and royal armouries museum

I found Saltaire very interesting. It's less than 20 mins from Leeds on the train, north of Bradford - a model town (a bit like Bournville in Birmingham) built by a Victorian industialist for his workers. Huge mill complex, now an art gallery / event space with shops and cafes. Big collection of David Hockney works and an amazing bookshop River walks / boat rides outside, streets full of pretty houses and interesting public buildings.

oh that sounds like a plan @Suzy14837 thanks - I will put it on the list

There’s an outdoor theatre at Temple Newsam and an outdoor cinema at Harewood www.thelunacinema.com/venue/harewood-house/ There’s also a Go Ape at Temple Newsam.

@Fivemoreminutes1 ooh outdoor cinema. Wonder if everyone would like to see Elvis...

oh sh*t just saw the price of tickets for the outdoor cinema. I don't think anyone will be up for that.

Do you like escape rooms? Locked In Games is really good - we have done most rooms over the last few years with our now 16 year old. www.lockedingames.co.uk/rooms-prices/

thesugarbumfairy · 19/08/2022 11:51

@maximo2 thanks. We have done some before with the kids. We did a couple in Peterborough which were excellent. Then one in York which was sh*t and put them right off. (that was the lockedingames one - I think the boneyard cemetary - it was so basic)

Not done that particular one - to be honest, we usually find them rock hard! Doing the Chapel of Unrest one this afternoon 😊

Rowing boats on the river at Otley ( open today I’ve noticed but usually weekends not weekdays) followed by fish and chips from The Maypole or lunch at Buon Apps if feeling flush.
Cinema and bowling at Kirkstall, not far from Horsforth.
Saltaire as mentioned by pp
Leeds centre for shopping, Harvey Nics and Trinity
