Haven,parkdean or park resorts?

Which order would you rank them? I know they're cheap, but for a last minute break which would be the preferred choice?
Park holidays have the best discounts at the moment.

Park holidays definitely had poorer facilities to haven but it depends a bit on which site. With them all I would pick them category of accommodation carefully, some are pretty tatty- ok if you don't mind but caravans age quickly so a 5 year old model is going to not be the best

NCTDN · 16/08/2022 21:44

Yes I think that it would need to be a gold standard caravan.

We had a standard caravan at Haven for 3 nights. 5 people cost £404 recently.

polkadotpixie · 16/08/2022 21:48

We just stayed at a Parkdean resort for 3 nights for £401. It was perfectly fine, not exactly luxurious but had lots of facilities (although there were additional charges for a lot of activities)

NCTDN · 16/08/2022 21:51

So Park resorts are the most expensive usually, but the cheapest for last minute breaks because they're so heavily discounted.

Can get 4 nights for £309...

Haven, park dean then park but it also depends on the sites

NCTDN · 17/08/2022 17:23

It's so hard to know! Park resorts are drastically reduced now but start off with much higher prices than haven.

We stay at Parkdean sites a 2/3 of times a year, we use them as a base so can't rate in terms of entertainment. We always stay in lodges rather than caravans but they're always immaculately clean and decorated to a high standard.

Also Parkdean bought a lot of Park resorts sites which is why they became Parkdean Resorts.

Basilandparsleyandmint · 18/08/2022 09:34

i had a 4 night stay recently in a ParkDean resort in Dorset. We stayed in one of the lodges and it was approx £750. It was a really lovely site and the lodge was decorated really well. Apart for the pool there were charges to all activities Would definitely go again 😊

Ukholidaylover · 18/08/2022 09:40

@Basilandparsleyandmint Could I be nosey and ask which one? We've been looking at Dorset for next year.

NCTDN · 18/08/2022 09:47

I think we're going to book a park resort one. We won't use the entertainment or anything, but just have a base to explore an area.

Personal preference for me but I much prefer park resorts. They are generally much smaller than haven, a lot less people too. The evening entertainment is in more of a pub setting than the massive hall that always seems to stink of feet and B.O. I just find it a more relaxing experience.

I've just booked 3 nights in a huge wheelchair accessible caravan in October half term in a small village on the Lincolnshire coast and it was about £180

Herbie0987 · 18/08/2022 10:57

We use the Haven sites but do not pay for the activities side which keeps the cost down. The accommodation has always been clean and warm and everything works.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 18/08/2022 10:59

I stand corrected it's a parkdean 😳

NCTDN · 18/08/2022 11:02

Haha @OnTheRunWithMannyMontana I was about to say that's great about Park resorts so will book that! I think they might also be smaller than haven anyway?

Sorry @NCTDN I always confuse the two!!

We will be staying on the Sunnydale site which is in the village of Saltfleet. It's particularly cheap at the moment but a lovely little place, right next to the sea and a short walk to some village pubs. Plus well located for things like the sea life sanctuary and the RAF museum (yea I'm a plane geek).

weebarra · 18/08/2022 11:47

We've booked Ashbourne Heights for our October holiday, partly as a base to go Alton Towers but the area looks really nice too. It's a Park site.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 18/08/2022 13:47

In my experience Park Resorts were the nicest ( nice park , spacious and good clean statics)

Haven is ok with statics that have options for nice decked areas which is nice.

Parkdene which we use a lot due to it being the only accommodation option for a place we go to a couple of times a year isn't great . At the park we go to they pack the caravans in as close as they can legally within fire safety restrictions. This makes for quite an unattractive environment ( ugly concrete walls built between the vans to get around the rules regarding spacing to prevent fire spread)

There is rarely an option to have any outside space and often you have to park in a carpark away from your accommodation. There is usually a lot of noise and loud music from the entertainment area too.

NCTDN · 18/08/2022 16:20

@AngelsWithSilverWings I hope you're right as we've just booked Park resorts for next week. There was more than 50% off.

Haven is better than Park Dean. We used to go to Haven, but their prices have risen to much for us, so we now go to Park Dean.

Basilandparsleyandmint · 18/08/2022 17:42

It was the ParkDean at Warmwell. It’s around 7 miles from Weymouth but that was fine for us as we just drove in and parked up. Lots of nice walks in the area and beaches are lovely x

OwlHouse · 18/08/2022 17:57

Haven have the best onsite facilities and tend to be well maintained.

Parkdean have fewer activities and the sites tend to be a bit older and worn, although the actually caravans are OK.

Have only been to one Park Resorts and it was shit so never again.

NCTDN · 26/08/2022 20:53

Just to update in face anyone ever searches for the same answer:
Park holidays was clean and well maintained. The caravan (gold standard) couldn't be faulted. Staff were very helpful.
The entertainment park was much smaller than any haven place with very few activities. We had no intention of using that anyway. The pool was small and heaving so we didn't use it.
