Cornwall/Devon next Summer with teenagers

Next summer we will be celebrating several landmark birthdays and the end of GCSEs for DS1. We would like to go to Cornwall/Devon for 5 or 7 days as cheap as possible but near things that teenagers would enjoy. Anyone got any good ideas of where to stay/ things to do or equally things/places to avoid?

How about one of the ready tents at Trevornick? trevornick.co.uk/accommodation/ready-tents/ It’s cheap (by Cornwall’s standards), has a swimming pool onsite and is cycling distance to Newquay. There’s a surf school within walking distance at Holywell Bay.

I am not sure if it would be cheap?
We statyed in a Beautiful house in Bude, loads of Beaches and Surfing but a bit of a drive to other places.
But many of the usual places St.Ives etc are rammed.
The Surf isn't a good but personally the llyn peninsular has a lot to offer

When my DB and I were teenagers body boarding/surfing in Croyde was a great holiday.

We stayed at Mount Edcumbe for a week and it was great. The estate was good for general wandering, has a small beach. Also has Segway and bike hire, and a massive frisbee golf course.

Big sandy beach at Whitsands, surf lessons I think too, and coasteering. Think you can do scuba diving out of Plymouth, and boat trips.
From the estate you can get the foot ferry to Plymouth, all sorts to see there.
An hour from the Eden project if you fancy that.

Depends what DC like. Our teenager is happy to go off for a walk alone, to sit and draw for a couple hours, and likes swimming, and museums, and will come for a couple of hours country ramble. But there's lots of other activities in the area, we just didn't need them.

The Rame peninsula is beautiful. We had great food too, at Maker Heights there's an ex-River Cottage chef so fabulous food, and a local Cornish pasty place, and artisan pizza in the local fishing village.

It was sunny the whole time but if it had rained, as I said lots to visit in Plymouth.

St Moritz hotel is right beside Polzeath Beach which has surfing etc (lovely beach) - StM is expensive BUT they have self catering places in the grounds which can use hotel facilities - pool etc. We also just came back from Port Gaverne. Lovely (really) little and pretty cove where you can do coasterring, SUP, kayaking, plus despite being tiny it has two eating places and just 2 minutes from Port Isaac. 10 mins drive from sandy beaches.

We have been on a Padstow Sealife Safaris Boat Trip as a family and they are so much fun, we saw dolphins, puffins and seals and the kids were over the moon! The trip was about 2hrs and then we went out for lunch in Padstow and it was the most amazing experience.

If your teens would enjoy coasteering, surfing and generally messing around in the sea then most places in north Cornwall would be ideal. Just have a look on Airbnb and see what you can get for your budget. Newquay is generally lived by teens and not so much by adults. It’s more pitchers of lager than pints of prawns. We tend to avoid, but teens feel drawn to other teens!
We love porthtowan, it has everything we need but not too busy. But you can’t go wrong on that coast in my view.

If they are less into surf then look at the south coast. Great for SUP trips
