Me and husband are looking to go away just for 1 or 2 nights in a couple of weeks, there has been a lot of shit life stuff going on and we just need to get away from it for a couple of days. We fancy just having a little seaside get away, arcades, fish and chips overnight stay in a B&B. We are in Hertfordshire so somewhere a couple of hours drive away would be ideal. My husband used to live in Brighton so not really interested in the Brighton/ Hastings area and we’ve been to Southend before so don’t really fancy there. We had a day out in Whitstable/Herne Bay a few years ago so that is an option but just wondered if anyone had any other suggestions please?

Maybe look at Thornham, Winterton on Sea, Wells next the Sea or Southwold?

Bpurnemouth
Weymouth
Frinton

I'd go to Southwold or Aldeburgh areas, somewhere up the Suffolk coast.

Broadstairs is quite nice but I don't fancy driving around Kent at the moment, unless I have to, due to the holiday traffic.

I too was going to suggest the Suffolk coast

Hunstanton?

Poole, Bournemouth or Weymouth! I am biased though as I live round there and love it!

Just back from Sheringham and it's great!

Norfolk and Suffolk coasts are both lovely. Love Blakeney, Wells and Hunstanton. Been probably 35 years since I’ve been to Southwold but did that a lot as a child and loved it.

I like Margate a lot, little more tacky than Whitstable which I think I prefer.

Lymington is lovely, quaint but lovely walking and near to Bournemouth.

Frinton on Sea is nice and you wan walk along the beach front to the amusements at Walton on the Naze

I always fancy a couple of nights at The Grand in Eastbourne, their swimming pool looks lovely, and could have some great walks along the coast, Seven Sisters etc.

Weymouth. We are here now. In good weather it’s pretty unbeatable. Fantastic beach and lovely harbour.

MegBusset · 07/08/2022 20:07

There aren't any arcades at Winterton, the cafe was a victim of coastal erosion last year and you can't even get easy access to the beach now :(

OP, where you want to go is Cromer.

What about Wales?
Borth
Aber
Tenby
New Quay
Loads more?

Thank you for all your suggestions, plenty of places to consider now.
