Looking for recommendations for things to see & do. Think the suspension bridge is a must. Also looking for restaurant recommendations for the evening. Thank you in advance.

The science museum (We The Curious) is really good.

AdInfinitum12 · 27/07/2022 23:07

The Van Gogh experience, especially if the teens are the type to enjoy posting pictures on Instagram.

Heretochill · 27/07/2022 23:14

Walking around the waterfront, will include lots of banksey spotting.

if you need to kill an hour there’s lots of escape rooms, Locked in a Room is by the waterfront.

Arnolfini if there’s a ‘non mainstream’ film on.

crazy golf in Cabot Circus (main shopping centre)

If you’re at the bridge, there’s the Observstory or Avon Gorge hotel for a bite to eat / snack with fab views.

Ashton court is just the other side if you want to do some walking.

So many restaurants, any preferences?

Heretochill · 27/07/2022 23:14

@AdInfinitum12 , loved the Van Gough experience ☺️

MrsMoastyToasty · 27/07/2022 23:46

We the Curious is closed due to a recent fire.
SS Great Britain is good. The ticket allows you free return within a year.
Sometimes the crew will let you on the Matthew (replica of John Cabots boat that sailed the Atlantic).
The Underfall Yard.
Catch the ferry and ask for a hop on hop off ticket (it goes all the way from the back of Temple Meads Station to the Cumberland Basin. One of the jetties is right outside the SS GB).
Bristol zoo relocates in the next couple of months to The Wild Place.

Thank you for the suggestions. Can anyone suggest somewhere for our evening meal. Middle of the road that does pizzas/burgers etc for the teens (they are fussy!) but where we adults can have a nice drink or two. Preferably by the water or in a nice setting. Thanks 😊

Harbour side has lots of restaurants.

JasmineVioletRose · 29/07/2022 05:20

The wave?

Fivemoreminutes1 · 29/07/2022 06:08

I’d recommend The Stable and Spitfire BBQ

JanJanBillyBearHam · 29/07/2022 06:11

There's a Prezzo, Las Iguanas, Slug and Lettuce by the harbourside.
Do not go in the aquarium, it is a rip off.

DelToro · 29/07/2022 06:17

street art tour for daytime
harbourside is ok but a bit shabby I’d recommend wrapping wharf or Finzels reach areas for food

sausagesforteatonight · 29/07/2022 06:31

The Wave, SS Great Britain, graffiti walking tour

Themsmedaps · 29/07/2022 06:43

If you're going to the Suspension Bridge you have to check out the slidey rock 😀
The upstairs terrace of The Observatory has great views too.

sausagesforteatonight · 29/07/2022 08:28

Oh yes - definitely the slidey rock!

Holidayaddict · 29/07/2022 09:05

We're actually staying in Finzels Reach, good area?

Finzels Reach has a very nice wine bar and the excellent Left Handed Giant brewery, although don't know if either of them allow under 18s.

Clifton suspension bridge is well worth seeing (an uphill walk or an easy bus ride). There's a little place that you can pay about a fiver and go down into a cave that then brings you out on a platform on the cliffside - definitely worth it.

For food have a look at the restaurants in shipping containers in an area called Cargo at Wapping Wharf. They're all tiny, so you'd probably need to book.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/07/2022 11:04

Definitely worth googling where the Banksy stuff is and doing a self-guided hunt for them all. Is the Grayson Perry thing still on at the art gallery? It was brilliant.
