Cornwall traffic?!!

I've heard horror stories about traffic - particularly trying to leave!

I'm grasping at straws trying to plan our route / timings home and wondering if it's marginally better if you are heading home (midlands) midweek rather than on 'changeover Saturday'?!?

The other option is to leave in the afternoon. We've done that before and left the Midlands about 2pm. Obviously you do run the risk of traffic building up if there's an accident early in the day but it's worked fine for us a couple of times. Other times we have bathed them the night before and bundled the kids into the car in pyjamas at 5am and been in Cornwall for breakfast!

It really isn’t that bad here at the moment.

We leave Cornwall after dinner... 7.30/8ish and have no problems generally. One year there was an incident with a person on a bridge which meant the motorway closed, but every other time was great.

I think travelling on a Wednesday will make a huge difference to the amount of traffic. Most of the holiday lets are Saturday, or sometimes Friday, changeover so you will avoid those. We had a let last year with a Thursday changeover and it was great! Have a lovely time
